I had a BMI of 34 when this nugget of info first came up. I was told not to gain any weight as if I did they wouldn't operate (I was in the private system). For safety and optimal healing, getting it to 30 would be best they said. Four months later my BMI was below 30. It's bloody hard but you can do it. It was the most effective incentive I've ever had.
