Just joined here - not exactly a veteran of support groups but will keep stumbling through.
Had a mastectomy end of July, currently doing weekly chemo. Talk about a huge learning curve!!...

Thanks Wenz, for that - it really helps to know what others think who have 'been there done that' ahead of us. What is involved in putting it in? I'm an RN but do kids, not adults! Have you ever seen anyone with a long line (PICC) instead? The thought of someone needling my chest does not thrill me - it has already been poked more times than in the rest of my life! Also, I have a special needs daughter, 5 yrs, who has a tendency to nail my chest with her head or those deadly elbows - concerned how much abuse these things can take? I will discuss with my oncologist, but really appreciate being forearmed with practical advice from those living with it daily.
