Almost finished Chemo.

I haven't been on here a lot lately only because I've been feeling full of energy while on Taxol so I have been making the most of it. But I'm slowing down a bit now. I'am through 9 Taxol only 3 to go. My last will be on the 23rd Sept. Then I start Radiotherapy in the middle of Oct.

I've been helping organise a fundraiser to raise money for the cancer care centre. We have a pink day at Harbour Town and then our main Fundraiser on the 26th of Oct. I'm really looking forward to them. It's been good to have something to keep my mind busy. And if we reach our goal we get to shave my friend/ hairdressers head.

  • I'm at St Andrews Too. Dr Trevor Malden. I'm in on Mondays only 3 more my last is 23rd sept, the week before they move to the new building, I love all the nurses. Did you have any surgry at st Andrews too. I had Dr Meliisa Bochner I'm starting Rads probably the 14th Oct as well, I'm going to Lyell McEwin for that though. Closer to my home and I can't afford $1600 out of pocket for Rads at St Andrews. I don't have to have Herceptin, My cancer was only estrogen+. I'm getting excited to finish.

I hope you have an amazing to in South Africa. Thats one of the places I'd love to visit one day.

  • I wasn't aware of the Cancer Care Centre either. A friend of mind found out she hd BC in January this year. She put me onto it. I myself have only visited the centre to meet with the ceo and have a look around. My friend is doing a life style coarse, I think it's for health eatting, They have massages and a few other coarses and a library. I'm thinking of going for a massage. I't a great little centre, they aren't goverment funded so rely on donations. So Thats why we decided to donate our fundraising to them.

  • Hi Vanessa. We seem to be on a very similar journey with similar side effects. I did 4xAC and now have only one Taxol to go. I start rads on Oct 14 after a 3 week holiday in South Africa! This 3 weeks is squeezed in between Herceptin treatments which are every 3 weeks till mid next year. Are you having that too? Where are you having treatment? Mine is all at St Andrews - soon to be in the new building. Won't it be great to be finished with chemo! Cheers Erica
  • So glad to see that you doing better on the Taxol! Cheers Cheryle :)
  • Thank you, I've had ACx4 which I really struggled with. I was so glad when I started Taxol when I had some energy and Not much in the side effect. My hair has even started to grow back :)

I like you are can see the end. I'm so happy about that.

    Take care

  • Glad to hear that you are nearly finished Chemo and have not had too many side effects. With a young family to keep you busy this must have been a bonus. It is wonderful that you have had the time to help organize a fundraiser as well. Hope that you have a great result with it. I too am almost finished Chemo. My last will be 19th Sept. Have had a difficult time with Docetaxel (FEC x 3, D x 3) but have my focus on the end now! Am told that radiotherapy is much easier than Chemo. I think the worst is almost behind us now. All the best for a great Pink Day and take care! Deanne xxx
