7 more sleeps

Well this time next week I will be post surgery ... I am not sure how I feel - but no doubt nerves will take over the closer I get.... I was a bit disappointed that I was not a good candidate for a tram flap recon following my bilateral mastectomy but I am now comfortable with the prospect of expanders.. There are pros and cons for each I guess but I am really comfortable with the team that are looking after me and the information I have been provided to make my decision. I am feeling a bit guilty though as I feel I have been really lucky to avoid both chemo and radio, and reading the stories of everyone else I feel I have had such a lucky escape... I have been building my photo journal to share later, and decided against the plaster mould as I was really unhappy with the size difference after my WLE I didn't want a reminder... I can't remember being so obsessed with the look of my breasts before... Anyway count down is on ... I think I am ready ... Cheers Chrisxxx

  • Best wishes for next week. The waiting is often the hardest time of all. I had a double mastectomy 8 months ago and reconstruction at the same time. 4 months later I needed an expander on the right side as some skin which had gone through radiation 12 years ago just didn't heal and the implant had to come out. I had regular fills which went well and now I have an implant back in. I found the whole expander experience really ok and the result is good. I am sure you will be happy with the look of the new assets so good luck for the rest of the journey.
