Went for a mastectomy on 3rd of sept, it was the 4th breast op in 6 weeks , but this time it was very successful & pathology has come back clear so I will not need chemo or radiation so I am feeling very blessed ,
Still have the drainage tube in (day 10) & the Hospital in the Home nurse has arranged for me to see the surgeon again today as he wasnt happy with the amount draining , hopefully it will be nothing much to worry about :)
Went back and saw the surgeon , apparently its still too much (average 100mls a day ) and very deep red .
He changed the light dressing over the wound and said he will see me next friday if I dont get rid of the drain via the daily nurse beforehand , asked me what meds I was taking incase they were causing the loss but i got the all clear on them .
So will just have to be patient .

Hi, Im glad to hear you have a clear margin. It helps to think posivite also. I too had drain problems. I had mine out before leaving hospital but had to drop back into my surgeon or the ER to have excess fluid removed manually via a painless needle for over a month. I had to laugh because when the fluid build up was at its greatest I actually had a decent boob again! Dont worry, be happy! Good luck,
