2nd chemo FEC

Hi everyone,   Had my 2nd chemo last Monday 26th Sept.  Again I had trouble with my port.  Chemo went from 12pm to 5.30pm before I got out the door.  (although the clinic said they were short by 3 staff).  When I get the Fluorouracil (the red stuff) I had to stand for 20 mins until the drug went through.  The last one gave me a headache and cold sweat.  Still feeling nauseous.  (I really cant tell whether its that or the reflux).    Still working things out.   I can eat small meals and have bought sustagin Neutral (hospital grade).  Just taking it day by day.    Christina.

  • Thanks Gurnerys.   I feel a bit better today, I spoke with the oncologist and he has made notes for my last round of FEC next chemo.  Then I start 3 x Docetaxel with Herceptin.  The hospital I visit is about 250km away and my doctor I had, left the local surgery.  "Not happy Jan" as we say.   So patience is what I have to have..........  Thanks again.
  • I was looking at your dates of chemo and post and comparing them to my rounds of FEC. I remember for me days 3 to 7 after the FEC were the worst in terms of nausea, sweats, headaches, body aches etc. My oncol prescribed some anti-nausea tabs for me and upped the anti nausea pre-meds for chemo. Speak to your oncol, tell him/her everything you are feeling during and post chemo and they should alter the pre-chemo medication for you and prescribe some post chemo meds such as anti-nausea and steroids. These helped me through the FEC. Good luck.
  • Hi ladies, Your right, I just need to relax.  and also I do not know what is up with my port.  This is twice the clinic has had trouble with it.   We will see what happens next chemo.

  • Wonder what is up with your port? Hope next run is better.
  • HI Christina!!

I had 4 rounds of FEC, the day of infusion was ok, but felt disorientated and nauseaus for every one. I couldnt hydrate at all for any of them and ended up in hospital after 2nd, 3rd and 4th infusion for a few days then home to get on my feet. Yes I would be there minimum 3hrs but usually up to 5.  Try and relax as much as you can, I think once you get used to the routine, it helps. I had Ativan besides pre meds which seemed to help a little. Rest as much as you can too! Relay anything to your Team so they can tweak your meds as need be! Day at a time is absolutely right!! no more no less..Hugs Melinda xo
