  • Thanks for sharing @June1952. I had read this story. Pretty hard in the regions. Their stories are important and must be told. It's such an overwhelming process. BC is a horrible disease but these additional hurdles and mus information or lack of information make life very hard indeed.
  • It is SO unfair that some women (specially rural) are not given all the correct facts about their surgery & recon.  I know that a lot of local women (rural) use a 'general surgeon' for their BC surgery in rural towns - which would preclude them from having a recon at the same time  as these surgeons are NOT plastic surgeons ...... but these facts should be put on the table at the time so they can make an informed decision.

The fact that they CAN have both done without excessive gaps, just by getting a 2nd opinion - but often aren't given the choice .... is pathetic.   By making it 2 separate surgeries, there is more stress, more anaesthetic, WAY more fees ......

I've shared that link with my 2 brothers & my sister so that they may be more aware of it, if their partners or family/friends are ever diagnosed .... the sharing of this information is SO important on a good outcome for the patient.

My heart bled for the woman who was basically lied to - she would be severely affected both mentally & physically with the surgery outcome, going by those pics!   :(

    Thanks for the link @June1952
