- mum2jjMemberDefinately ask your plastic surgeon they will be honest with you, and 13 years is a long time ago. There are new techniques and procedures every day. As I said some women have had this done. The risk of course is capsular contracture, but your PS will advise you on your skin and your case, it's certainly worth the discussion.
Paula xxx - ChorsellMemberIt is worth asking the question... you may be surprised at the options you have.
- primekMemberWorthy of a discussion with a specialist I reckon.
- LillianRMemberThanks everyone. I don't like the thought of having my stomach or back cut for the reconstruction. Was hoping for a lot of healing in 13 years to the skin so an implant could work. But maybe it is just wishful thinking.
- mum2jjMemberHi Lillian, I know it all depends on the condition of your skin. There are some ladies in choosing breast reconstruction who have had this done. There are others who were unable to (myself included due to damage there has been discussion around fat grafting in the area to help as well.
Paula x - Ann-MarieMemberHi @LillianR I just wanted to let you know we have a private group "choosing breast reconstruction" that you may be interested in joining.
- primekMemberMy niece had an expander put in 2 years after radiotherapy. They expanded very very slowly. She was small busted though, I believe hers are a bit bigger now than her originals breasts.
