I am reading through your posts @melclarity and this one strikes a chord with me. I too have recently had a recurrence. I had a IDBC in 2007 for which I had lumpectomy, radiation, Tamoxifen then Arimadex. My breast had a lot of fibrosis from the radiation and I was never completely happy with how it looked but I accepted it. Then in June this year diagnosed with an ILBC in the same breast! Devastated! This one 1.5cm with no node involvement. Had lumpectomy and now on Examestane. I’m now considering a bilateral mastectomy with a DIEP reconstruction (can’t believe I actually wrote that!). I am finding that the prospect of having to go through all this again in 5, 10 years is terrifying- I’m 63 now and fit and well. My thinking is the surgery is risk reduction for me plus I’m not comfortable with how I look!
Anyway just wanting you to know I’m thankful you’ve shared your story and hope you are going well.
