Oh Jodie, that's disappointing, but you have to listen to the experts right?Try to relax and take care of yourself, and you will get on top of the infection.Sending you a hug.I don't know what else to say.xoxoxRobyn0

Hi Jodie,
Not sure when your surgery was, but I waited almost 2 months before I received my first chemo. During this time there will be some setbacks. I had it during chemo, when my blood count was too low and chemo was postponed.
As you know chemo, and infections don't like each other. You are getting the best medical advice, and to wait the week will be really benificial to you. Your body will be stronger. Although that probably doesn,t help how your feeling right now.
All that being said, I am really feeling for you. I found the easiest thing to do and keep my sanity to, was to "just go with the flow". As Robyn has said, just try to relax, next week will come around quickly.....

No my port is swollen still from the procedure on Friday. My mastectomy scar was infected :-(
They feel that my port should settle in a week as well because my chest is swollen with fluid slightly (250ml) was defined yesterday.
My onc said its not going to impact me at all waiting a week, mentally it is though :-(0 -

Sorry to hear about your setback Jodie. You get yourself all psyched up for chemo(and that aint easy!) and then they move the goal posts on you. This will happen alot unfortunately. As the girls said, you just have to go with the flow. Hope you heal well this week and my best wishes for next weeks chemo.

Hi Jodiewall, I had an infection in my drain site, that even the IV antibiotics could not clear up. After doing some research I came across Medihoney (medical grade Manuka Honey). After applying the Medihoney & covering with a dressing for 24 hours my infected drain was no longer oozing & after another 24 hours the wound had closed. The dressings you use are shiny on one side. Pour some honey onto the dressing & then place over wound. Most pharmacys stock Medihoney. I hope you infection clears up soon & that your port site becomes less swollen & sore soon. I will be having my 3rd AC chemo Friday week, so it wasn't that long ago that I was feeling scared/anxious about my 1st. Just be kind to yourself & take your meds. Drink lots of water to keep your veins open & to flush the chemo out of your system. After the first couple of days I found that I felt better if I made myself get up & go for a walk or even a ride In the car to collect my son from daycare. Take care. Regards Adrianne0
