Fulvestrant (Faslodex) a step closer to being added to the PBS

BCNA is pleased to advise that Fulvestrant (Faslodex) has been recommended for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) for treatment of hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer.

This is yet another example of the power of our network and the importance of consumers having a voice to ensure the best treatment is delivered to all, not just those who can afford it. Read more

Cancer Support Referral from Cancer Council

Health professionals can now refer patients to Cancer Council’s nurses who provide information and support to people affected by cancer.   All they need to do is fill in this support form and one of the cancer nurses from Cancer Council will contact you to see what support you may require.

Support includes financial & legal, emotional and psychosocial support, peer support, wig service, holiday break program or general cancer information by an oncology nurse.

With regards to the emotional and psychosocial support, you may be able to access five sessions of counselling.  To access this service you can call the helpline directly on 13 11 20 during the hours of Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm (cost of a local call).
