Hi everyone,
My name is Elle, I was diagnosed with High Grade DCIS one week ago today. Since then I have seen the breast surgeon and booked in for a lumpectomy on 5.11.19 and radiation which will come a couple of months after as long as a) My genetic testing comes back okay and b) The DCIS isn't as widespread as the surgeon thinks it will be. From what I can understand on the report from the stereotactic biopsy the DCIS measures in 2mm. At the moment I'm just feeling terrified about everything happening now and about the future, particularly that it will come back or that it will spread before I have surgery. I feel like I'm scared of everything. If anyone can help to ease my anxiety I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi @ellie_V92
Welcome to the forum! The links above hopefully you'll find helpful.
My BC isn't DCIS however the concern you are experiencing may make you feel anxious however it is not unusal.
As others come online there will be others to say Hello!
Deep breaths and best wishes

The best thing about DCIS @Elle_V92 is that it is the earliest form of cancer detected. And it is 'in situ', meaning it hasn't spread out of the duct. It's contained. So comfort yourself with the knowledge that you're on it super early and that it hasn't developed into a tumour. And although it seems odd to us, there really isn't any immediate urgency with a diagnosis unless the doctors say so. Trust that if you needed to be operated on quickly you would be.
The mantra here is 'one day at a time'. One hour at a time if necessary. Try to keep yourself busy/distracted/entertained. And engage in some stress busting activity. Yoga, walks, meditation, baking, whatever your relaxation thing is.
And come on here whenever you need to. We're here for you. K xox
