Nutri Bullet
Hi Ladies,
I'm going to get a NutriBullet this week as I've been told by several people they are a great way to get all your vitamins while going through Chemo, I start my 2nd round of chemo on 14/8 and I haven't exactly been eating as many vegetables or fruits as I should according to my Oncologist who I saw yesterday and one of my chemo nurses has one and says they are great especially when you're feeling too tired to cook a meal and I'm vegetarian also and I don't have much of an appetite these days. Can anyone give me any advice on if they are good one of my friends says she wouldn't live without hers but I was just wondering if anyone has one and could tell me if they are good.

Hi Anita,
I dont have a nutribullet but a normal blender and also a George Foreman $39 brand from Target which is what I usually use. The bottle can then go with me to work if I am running late.
I have been having smoothies for breakfast for five years now. I have just had my second round of chemo and find it a fantastic breakfast still. I also have them during the day or for dinner if not feeling so good. I use almond milk, yogurt, banana, fresh or seasonal fruit as the base. I add chia seeds, a little protein powder as not vegetarian but eat very little meat. I add MACCA powder for hormone balance. At the moment I also add lecithin as my liver took a battering during three surgeries with all the pain killers etc. But add whatever you like......
Good luck and keep us posted. :-)

Hi Anita
I have a nutri bullet. I couldn't manage it during chemo (I couldn't manage much of anything then) but have used it since and I do feel it helps. There are various recipes for different ailments but I have concentrated on the ones for the immune system. I'm an extremely fussy eater and was unsure if I would like it but it is great especially if your appetite isn't the best.

Hi Anita
I had a Nutri Bullet before cancer and didn't get much joy with it as the bearings gave out pretty quickly (maybe I had a dud?). Once I started chemo I bought a nutri ninja and love it but if you only want to use it for softer foods the George Foreman is fantastic for the price, it just doesn't pulverise the harder veges like carrot really fine.
On my off days after chemo I find oats/quinnoa, blueberries, cinnamon, honey and milk (almond, dairy, coconut - whichever you prefer). I also keep patties/rissoles in the freezer to reheat/cook when I'm too tired - packed with every difference type of vegie I had at the time - (bok choy, kale, spinach, carrot, etc), I added a little turkey mince. Only need one or two and I feel like I have had something a little nutritional without having to cook up a heap of vegies.
Good luck.

Hello,I have one and it's THE BEST!!!! My daughter bought it for me for the exact reason that you are thinking about one!! This is what I do.... I purchase lots of fresh fruit and veggies...anything really...and different nuts ,chia etc. Then I get about 20 or even more, sandwich bags from the supermarket.I chop up all the fruit and veggies into small pieces then I make up packs and put them in the freezer.Into each pack I put about 10 almonds or other nuts,as you can freeze anything like this. When I want one,I just pop one in the Nutri bullet, and some milk,or yoghurt,or even water if you like, and there you have a lovely, ice cold, thick smoothie!!!! I read about this idea to freeze packs, and it really is the easiest way.If you try to prepare them as you need them,it is very fiddly, and you don't always have what you need.My husband likes the packs too,and so does our daughter:):) Cheers Robyn xox

Hi Robyn,
I'm so glad to hear how great the Nutri Bullet is I have a friend who absolutly thinks it's the best and they are all on special at the moment I can't decide whether to get the 600w or the 900w I guess I'll probably get the 600w as in Target they are $169 but for $30 more you get the 900w I'll talk my hubby into that one I think he just wants me to get the vitamins, that is a fantastic Idea about freezing the fruit and vegies as I have my 2nd round of chemo on Monday and I get so tired and I don't eat much so if I can get my vegies and fruit this way all the better I'm usually okay for the first couple of days after chemo and then the fatigue and bone and muscle pain sets in, I never knew that most of your vitamins come in the vegies being raw that's amazing. I have to have my blood test this afternoon before chemo then retail therapy LOL. Hope to chat again soon.

Hi Kari,
I was thinking about the Nutri ninja I'm getting one of them today they have been highly recommended to me by a friend and with my second round of chemo on monday I need it as steaming vegies after my 1st round of chemo was taking all my energy so I haven't been getting my veggies which isn't very good, I need my vitamins my oncologist wants me to see a dietician when I go for my chemo as I'm vegetarian and he's a little concerned I'm not getting enough nutrition but I think a Nutri ninja or a Nutri Bullet will really help me. Thanks for your advice I really appreciate it.

Hi Christine,
I have my 2nd round of chemo on monday so I plan to get one today and I've been having protein shakes as my hubby is a sprinter and he doesn't drink his protein shakes anymore as he gets enough protein in his food so I use it now actually I have to get some more I might get it from woolies as the health food shop costs a small fortune do you have to soak the chia seeds as I know they are really good for you and my friend soaks them, I'm vegetarian but I have started to eat fish and eggs again now as I like boiled eggs I haven't allways been vegetarian and I'm not a full vegetarian what is MACCA powder? If it's good I'll have to okay it with my Oncologist as my bc is Hormone Receptor + it's amazing how much your health becomes a priority and how much you have to adjust your lifestyle other people don't realise unless they have walked the path we are walking. Thank you for your advice I really appreciate it.

Hi Karen,
I'm getting a Nutri Bullet today, that sounds like a great Idea as I'm always worried about my Immune System as I have an Overactive Thyroid Gland and it can wipe me out some days as it fights with my Metabolism at least that's what a dietician told me once. My Oncologist wants me to see a Dietician as he's worried I'm not eating well, I haven't eaten well for years as I have a Gastric Band put in back in 2009 and I can't tolerate a lot of foods that's another reason I want a Nutri Bullet, How are you doing at the moment as I haven't chatted to you for a while? your advice you have given me since I joined the network has got me through some hard times as well as others I have chatted too I don't know sometimes how I would cope without this network.
Sending you a cuddle and a smile

Hi, I brought same kind of machine off the TV, it is really good. I like to add ginger it helps with nausea. You can be very imaginative with recipes. Some of my favourites;
watermelon lemon mint
carrot Apple ginger
celery carrot beetroot ginger pineapple
banana lemon blueberries yogurt milk bit of honey
i add chia seeds, I wash them, they make a jell I keep in the fridge and add them to the bullet.
hope this is helpful
