Prevention of side effects rads
1.Does anyone have experience with use of Mepilex to protect the skin during radiotherapy? what should I do to prepare my skin and incisions in advance? It will be 8 weeks since lumpectomy and 5.5 weeks post sentinel lymph node biopsy when I start 15 treatments over 3 weeks. 2. Have long awaited overseas holiday planned but have to change departure date. How long should I wait after radiotherapy?
What's been your experience/side effects of Femara?
Hello, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer in March, with lumpectomy early April. No lymph nodes were affected, but had 8 removed from that side. I was told that further surgery was needed as a bigger margin had to be taken from the tumour site, then 7 weeks of radiation. I opted to have a double mastectomy instead. I started on Tamoxifen but became really depressed, then angry, then depressed, etc. so stopped taking that. My surgeon gave me a script for Femara, aromatase inhibitor, but I haven't started it yet. I read about some of the side effects which can be bad. Has anyone been on an aromatase inhibitors? If so what were your experiences with side effects? Would love to know.
Newly diagnosed grade 2 IDC
Hello, my name is Adrianne, I am 45 years old & mum to a 4 year old son. On 30th July I was diagnosed with a grade 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in my left breast. Have had fine needle aspiration on lymph nodes & core biopsy. My GP has referred me to our local public hospital for surgery & I will find out more at my GP appointment tomorrow. I have been told I will have surgery within two weeks. Would love to hear from other ladies with this type of cancer. I have gone through all types of emotions & now just want the surgery/treatment to begin.
