Recon with expanders wk 7
Hi warriors just wanted to ask if anyone had pains post 6 wk mark with expanders? I’m at wk 7 now and fully expanded and for the past 4-5 days have been experiencing dull but almost constant pain under my R boob (foob) not sure if I’ve been over doing it with my stretches or lifting heavy stuff and maybe pulled something. It’s in one spot and doesn’t move. No changes in the look of the breast. Having to take Panadol and ibuprofen a couple times each a day. Any ideas or advice welcome. I don’t see my PS for a couple weeks. x61Views0likes2CommentsPain after mastectomy/stage one reconstruction
Hi there, 10 days ago I had a mastectomy and stage 1 reconstruction (insertion of tissue expander) in my left breast after removal of a 6 centimetre lobular cancer .There was no cancer in my lymph nodes. I also had a reduction (E cup to C Cup) in my right breast. My pain in the right breast has gone away, but the pain in my left breast is awful - i am having o take an endone every 6 hours. Is this normal or is it like the nurses in hospital said - "everyone's experies different"?131Views0likes8CommentsPost mastectomy shoulder pain
Hi Ladies, I had mastectomy, reconstruction, recurrence, removal of implant(another mastectomy) and finished chemo and radiation on April 2020. My question is i keep on getting this bad shoulder and neck stiffness and pain on the right side where my surgery was, I was wondering if anyone experienced the same. I called the breast clinic physio and she is no help, didn’t even bother to ask me to come in to have a look. Also if I have any issues am I meant to follow with them or a private physiotherapist? would love to hear from you beauties. much appreciated.174Views0likes10CommentsMild pain that comes in waves
Hi ladies. Greetings from Adelaide. Long time since I've been on here as things have been settling down..However, just now I have a small concern. I had a TRAM flap reconstruction following left breast mastectomy back in June 2015. Just in the last hour or so I have had mild pain/ache in the top of the left reconstructed breast which comes and goes in "waves" but is sharp enough to keep me awake. I have also noticed a small hard lump (?fat necrosis) in that area as well. This pain is really kind of weird and hard to describe - ?muscle ache, but i haven't done any strenuous activity in the last 36 hours so I am a little worried. The pain has occurred a couple of times before but not for this long (nearly 2 hours now). The pain itself comes in "waves" where for a short while everything seems okay and then just a short burst of pain/ache in the top part of the breast. Is this normal? I am seeing both my breast surgeon and plastic surgeon in a month. It is now 11.30 pm on a Friday night and I am wide awake, not being able to go to sleep. Should I take some panadol and maybe see my GP or breast surgeon soon? Cheers for advice. I will update (hopefully) soon. Rachel xx1View0likes5CommentsShingles
Hello Breast cancer diagnosed July 2015- already last year! Had mastectomy (left- nipple preserving) and immediate reconstruction with implant in August- just a slight problem with a seroma that was drained x3 post. Had 33 sessions of radiotherapy October through early December - skin all healed by Christmas Then developed Shingles on 28th December!! Prior to this had been managing walks in various local groups, of between 2 and 4-6 hrs in length - 3-5 times per week- have not even managed to walk the dog since Shingles. Have been in pain and taking various pain meds to target the nerve pain ( currently on a course of steroids) since..far worse than any of my cancer treatment Anyone else had this? Hi Everyone, I am 1 week post surgery and am feeling great, although fatigued and in pain at times. I decided on my surgery due to a high family history and 18 months worth of breast changes and biopsies and screening and specialist visits. I felt mastectomy was the only way in the end to try to relieve my anxiety and constant fear that of bc. I am 39, a mother to 3 healthy boys and a wife and student. I found very little information in regards to immediate implant reconstruction following preventative bilateral mastecomy, which is why I have decided to blog. I am unsure how long the recovery process will take. i understand every one heals differently and difficulties may arise along the way. People ask me when can I drive again, when will the medications cease, when can I sleep on my stomach. All questions I have asked my surgeon and all with a big ? for a reply. I am expected to return to full time uni placement in February 2015, which will be quite physically demanding on the healthiest of people, so hopefully recovery is smooth sailing. I feel heavy in my chest, which is what I was expecting, but on a lesser scale. At first it was hard to even breath. I never expected my arms to be as weak and sore as what they have been. Currently there are 2 drains in each breast, and I am getting almost a full 75 ml from each side in 2 of the drains, yet barely 5ml in the other two. Hopefully this is normal. I see the surgeon tomorrow for removal of 2 drains so I guess I will see then. My wonderful husband has taken 6 weeks of work to help out, and my dinner has been served so I will leave my first blog at that. I am new to all of this blogging stuff, and to the bcna.1View0likes2Commentsnerve damage
I was diagnosed in June 2000, I had a right breast mastectomy, which went wrong, this left me with peripheral nerve damage. I had a reconstruction at the same time as the mastecomy, this went wrong and I needed four operations, this has left me permenantly disabled, and in a lot of pain, I have just had a reconstruction hoping this will help with my pain issues, I am still recovering from this operation, I have another two operations to go.1View0likes0Comments
