Hello everyone, We are wondering if anyone would be interested in being involved in the filming of a new post breast reconstruction surgery exercise video, which will take place on Friday 20 September 2019 in Malvern East, Melbourne. I have been told that it will be a long day between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm approximately. More specific details below You will need to be about 4 weeks post breast reconstruction surgery (no specific type) The video filming will require you to be demonstrating the correct way to perform everyday tasks post breast reconstructive surgery, including lifting washing from the washing machine and getting up out of bed You will be required to sit in a chair in the shower (clothed) demonstrating how to wash your hair You will also be demonstrating exercises that assist recovery You will need to be comfortable in front of a camera, taking precise direction from the physiotherapist with gentle exercise movements using an exercise band and instruction also from the video director You will need to be comfortable with close ups of your torso being filmed as you demonstrates the exercises There will be mock draining tubes fitted fixed to your body as it's important to show how to navigate drains post surgery You will need to wear a variety of your own outfits, including fitted active wear so that the exercise movements can be clearly seen Details are as follows : Recording: Friday 20th September 2019 Location: Malvern East Duration: 9 am - 4 pm approximately If you are interested in being involved in the filming of this new post breast reconstruction surgery video, please contact Kellie Curtain at BCNA on kcurtain@bcna.org.au Thanking you Giovanna81Views0likes4CommentsIs this normal?
Hi lovely people, today I am 4 weeks post op. Single right side mastectomy. I had a little bit of a set up back with recovery as I ended up with 2 infections along the suture line which I'm still seeing the community nurses for but they are healing. My question is around the uncomfortableness I still feel around the surgery site. It just feels so tight and hard. I'm doing my exercises but 2nd stage exercises were delayed due to the infections. I'm just so sick of it and everyday I expect it to feel a bit better and it doesn't. Is this normal and when is it likely to loosen up and feel better?225Views0likes11CommentsExercises for patients that have not had a mastectomy or reconstructive surgery
This was the sheet the physio gave me the day after surgery and I kept these up for 6 weeks. BUT I should have kept them up for longer as at about the 9 month mark I noticed this weird "CORDING" as I learned from Dr Google. Since diagnosis of lymphodema I now have to lie down and elevate my arm for 20 mins twice a day - at 90 degrees and then massage the WHOLE AREA of the breast, underarm, side, down to bottom of ribs and wear a sleeve to control the lymphodema. No sleeve on whilst elevating or massaging. Here's the two sheets of exercises for those who would like to do them from the beginning and/or those who would like to perhaps prevent lymphodema or keep it to a minimum. primek This is basically the exercises I had after mastectomy and reconstruction http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/breast-cancer/treatment/surgery/breast-reconstruction/exercises-implants471Views0likes13Comments
