Thank you so much @gumnut, @jennyss and @Julez1958 for your birthday wishes. I so appreciate being thought of....I follow you lovely ladies on BCNA and others with all the sage and pertinent advice ...we are SO lucky to have each other. I acknowledge not in the way we wanted to have 'friends' but comforting nonetheless. Hello @Katherine_D So sorry you are having a difficult time with your treatment regime....I did to and ended up in hospital...but got through it...was determined to... It may have already been suggested but can you speak to your doctors/treatment team to see if you can access someone to talk to attached to the the team or separately...so you can 'debrief'/talk to a professional who may be able to support you at this time? Talking with someone really does help to lighten the load... For all other physical side effects ..try to keep a list/diary of them and discuss these with your doctors (which you are probably already doing) but good to seek understanding of them anyway.... Any suggestions are always so well received by EVERYONE in this network ...all with the aim of getting us through this 'thing' that is BC.... I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year ...and let's work on conjuring and communicating as many optimistic and positive thoughts as practical, given the current pandemic and our health challenges ...big hugs everyone xxxx Patricia ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ BTW... i have just returned from spending a few days throwing myself in the ocean and boy do I feel refreshed...If you are looking for some aquatic therapy get to the beach if you can and frolic!! So good for the body and mind and spirit! It wasn't all smooth sailing though as they say......Many will appreciate this dilemma.....here goes....thought I would catch some waves, didn't I.(!!!) ..all with temporary breast prosthesis in situ....wave was a dumper...breast prosthesis goes up in the air and into the crashing wave foam heading for the shoreline.... you've never seen a (fairly lopsided) woman move so fast to retrieve it ....Dignity restored, lesson learnt ( to secure it correctly) !! @Keeping_positive1.. Thankyou for posting! I am astounded at the insensitivity of her 'friend' Astounded! @Afraser, as usual you nailed it in the summation of this person..... I felt so many emotions rise up during the telling of this unfortunate story - anger (not helpful I know!) and a sort of helplessness this lovely breast cancer thriver would have felt....there are no words in this situation...I am SO glad though she held her own and was adamant her husband knew 'who she was/is' pre and post cancer and that their relationship was as intimately positive, fulfilling and solid prior and post diagnosis and surgery .... This situation cuts at the heart of the intimate relationships we have with our partners...which are ultimately SO private anyway and not gossip fodder and topics for guests at dinner parties.. Our struggle is firstly for us to accept our new bodily form and looking in the mirror can be confronting, and equally so for our husbands and partners...I feel lucky in that my husband was so lovely and kind in this way..(he's not that way all the time! feel reassured! @Keeping_positive1.....Absolutely hilarious....and so cleverly delivered by Urzila...she's a comedic professional....I was laughing out loud as I hadn't seen it before...and 2 years down the track I (luckily) had some space in my recovery journey to appreciate it for what it is wanting to achieve - understanding and tolerance and sensitivity to our collective plights with BC! Like many on here I have been through the whole nine yards - everything that could present itself during treatment, did! But I survived and haven't lost my sense of humour...thankfully...I too have endured MANY thoughtless, inappropriate and insensitive comments (from family too!! go figure! ) ...which in all seriousness can bring you down...so I have great compassion and understanding for those on this thread that are feeling the effects of insensitive comments...chin up we'll get through it... I just loved that this video was shared as it gets the message across in a creative and clever way to people to 'think before they speak' Thank you for sharing it...I really needed a good laugh as like many have been ruminating in my thoughts this morning and needed a lift!
