Re: Where did my gratitude go? I swear I left it right here somewhere...
Yes, I know how it is. We are so damn lucky to survive it, then life returns to some sort of normal again for you to only get worked up again with each checkup. For me it's a personal thing and with the sun going down each day I think of 3 things that was good that day and give silent thanks for. Life goes on but I try to pick the highlights of each day and concentrate on the positives, some days are pure shit and you don't know why. Bc changes you deeply, we have to learn to let go, make the most of what we have and realize we are still young enough to do (or at least attempt) things on our bucket list. For me i have to learn to let go, learn to laugh again, breath, live the moment and enjoy.20Views5likes0CommentsRe: Who else can't sleep?
Hi, I also had the problem of constantly waking up at 2am just about every night!! Until I went to a 'relaxation class' and learnt tapping (and other exercises). After that class I had the best sleep for a very long time. I now use the tapping sequence when I'm having problems sleeping and it usually works after 'two' rounds. Excellent!! Heaps of websites on 'tapping' - I don't understand it but it definitely works for me....7Views0likes0CommentsRe: 2/2 Happy Birthday to Dak2
Thank you to everyone for the support and birthday wishes, it's a pity that all the cake you sent me isn't here with me. My darling husband has whisked me away for a short holiday to celebrate my birthday and finishing chemo. It's wonderful to be a couple again after him being my 'carer'. Start radiation Monday week, I can now see the finishing line!! Cheers to everyone. Di :smile:4Views0likes0CommentsRe: Cold Caps
Sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and get it over and done with, less stress and it makes you feel empowered. I've finished my 4 rounds of chemo with the ice cap on, still have 50% of my hair with lots of regrowth, I'm glad I kept on with it but numerous times I would have been glad to just shave my head as the stress of losing so much hair was doing my head in....but once thru round two my hair loss stopped and regrowth started, it's a hard decision to make. Good luck I'm sure the decision you make is the right one for you. I'm now battling an infection just home from hospital, does this ever end9Views0likes0CommentsRe: Cold Caps
Hi kat09, I'm back again...glad you managed the cold cap, for me it was definitely worthwhile, not pleasant but doable I'm on tc chemo x 4, 3 weekly, (last one tomorrow) which I'm told is the harshest for hair loss, as mentioned, in round 1 week 3 was when I lost approx 50-60% of my hair which was soo disheartening, decided to percevere with the cold cap round two, week one, still lost strands of hair which slowly stopped shedding. Round three I now have baby hair regrowth which us fantastic, I still have my eyebrows and eyelashes. To help my hair I only comb it with an wide tooth (afro) comb and use natural shampoo for sensitive skin (grahams) which my husband bought from a health food store for me whilst having chemo :), the shampoo is so soothing on the scalp (for me anyway). I would definitely perserve with the cold cap for at least another round and see how you go, talk to the nurses as they can offer good advice. Good luck hope it all goes well for you...cheers di4Views0likes0CommentsRe: Newly Diagnosed

Also found Moroccan argan oil brilliant for dull, lifeless hair and itchy scalp really good....keep smiling di4Views0likes0CommentsRe: Newly Diagnosed
Hi kat, good luck with your treatment, you will find a wealth of support and information here. I chose to use the paxman ice cap, my first chemo session they were running 3 hrs late and quickly put the cap on, after 10-15 mins it's fine, unfortunately I lost approx 50% of my hair in week three, it just fell out in strands. I persevered with round two and found the cap fitted better and my hair stopped falling out. Round three and the nurse tried a different size cap, previously had the small size which left a pocket behind my fringe and at the nape where I lost most of my hair, this time she used a medium cap which was too big but she also put on the small cap over top of the medium one, boy did I freeze on that round but it definitely worked as I now have baby hair regrowth which is fantastic. One more chemo round on Monday and I'm finished. Definitely try the ice cap but make sure it fits snug on your head even if it means using two caps on top of one another, it worked for me. Let us know how you get on. Cheers2Views0likes0Comments
