Just wanted to know have other people had this test done when they reached 5 years on hormone therapy to see if a further 5 years is beneficial? I have never bee Offered one by my oncologist, seems others have,I had never heard of it till recently, people say it’s even covered y Medicare, would be nice to know either way, even if 5 more years is beneficial it would make me more excited to take it for that time,I’ve already taken it for 6 years,I’m on tamoxifen.64Views0likes3CommentsRe: Tamoxifen and weight gain
Just out of curiosity how long have you been on tamoxifen, so you lost a couple at start and then just never put much on?I only ask as mine has gradually gone up over time, nice to hear that you didn’t have weight gain problems,I might try acupuncture for some symptoms too,thanks35Views0likes0CommentsTamoxifen and weight gain
Has anyone taking tamoxifen managed to not put on weight? I’m having trouble and only read stories about people who struggle with it too? I presume some people don’t get that side effect maybe,I worry the extra weight I’m carrying increases risk of reoccurrence any, has anyone tried 10 mg instead of 20 mg and has it made any difference?90Views0likes3CommentsRe: Second time around
Prismay1. Did you just go back and request a double mastectomy and reconstruction? Years down the track I often wonder if i should have done that to save years of worrying,I definitely will if I have any more trouble,I’ve just come off tamoxifen and nervous. I presume you have to pay for it yourself? Did the doctors try to talk you out of it,as I asked for that when diagnosed and was talked out of it,they said it was overkill.8Views0likes0CommentsCoping with perimenopause and menopause .
I had idc 6 years ago ,I took tamoxifen for 6 years,I’m not taking now,had usual symptoms taking tamoxifen, but now I’m off it I’m in nature perimenopause I’d say as I’m 48 and have all the symptoms, obviously I can’t take hrt or I presume a lot of natural estrogen supplements, thinking of going to doctors as have terrible insomnia as well, just wondering if anyone has had anything that has helped? I do the usual recommended things,I exercise enough, eat well, feeling very down, which no sleep isn’t helping, currently trying melatonin, not sure it’s made much difference211Views0likes4CommentsLower dose tamoxifen
I have taken tamoxifen 20mg for 6 years,I have now had a year off tamoxifen as I stopped taking due to side effects, my oncologist would like me to persist and start taking it again as I’m in my 40s and he considers this young. my surgeon said I could just take less,he said there has been research that says it may be as effective,or I suppose it’s better than not taking it, has anyone doctors been happy for them to take less tamoxifen than 20 mg? And if you take less have you noticed an improvement in the side effects? If so do yo take 5 mg or 10 mg a day?
