For radiation, I went public in a private hospital . I had my surgery done privately , my chemo publicly and radiation was going to be public , my husband and I were prepared to be drive the distance everyday for 20 treatments, but I found out that I could have the treatment at the local private hospital. At first they told me I had to pay a minimal fee, but after reading what others had said here on this network I understood it was all up for negotiating . I ended up not paying a cent . That’s the great thing with this forum . I found it so helpful when I as going through treatment. Be very careful with your radiotherapy costs. The treatment will be just the same whether you’re public or private . If you don’t ask they’ll quite happily take a fee from you and it can get very expensive Best of luck and take care.11Views2likes0Comments- 5Views0likes0Comments

I have some caps (one is bamboo cotton and very soft to wear) and crochet beanies to give away. I used them myself in 2018 when I had TC chemo. It’d be good to know they’re useful to someone else rather than sitting at the back of my drawer. Let me know if you’re interested. I had my surgery privately and chemo and radiation in the public system. In fact I was a public patient at GenesisCare in Victoria,. Have the conversation with your oncologist, ring the receptionist and say you've thought it over and you want to go public. You will be saving yourself a lot of money. Treatment isn't any different. @Canisha , I am so sorry to read your post. I can't give you any advice . I was diagnosed February 2018 , finished active treatment and now on hormone therapy tablets. Sending you love and hugs. This looks very painful and sore. Sending you big gentle hugs. I'm surprised you've been told to put MooGoo on your burns. I had very similar burns to you nearing the end and after my radiation last year. I was seen by the radiation nurse every day for the last two weeks of radiation and this continued after radiation until it was decided I could go to two days and then three days to have the site dressed. The nurse took a swab at one stage to rule out infection, which came back negative. i was told to stop using the MooGoo equivalent ,QV cream, once I started to burn. MooGoo/QV cream is a moisturiser and used at the beginning of treatment when the skin is intact and not blistered. The radiation nurse used Solugel on me , which is used for burns, and used in burns wards, it was smeared on very thickly, with mepilex over the top of my entire breast area. I then popped a fitted tank top on top to hold the dressing in place. I healed up very quickly once it started to heal. My concern for you is the MooGoo is not a sterile ointment and is not used for severe burns. I think you need to be seen and treated by an experienced burns nurse/radiation nurse. @LibbyA I'm on anastrazole and when I first started on it I got some terrible dizzy spells. I was also, like you, very busy at the time , I'd not long finished radiation, we were getting ready to travel to visit our son in Canada and I wanted to apply 3 x 25kg of dynamic lifter on my garden beds in time for spring growth , which was a lot of shovelling and bending up and down, as well as trying to do many other jobs. Looking back , I was doing too much . I thought I could do it all but the dizzy spells were nauseating. Try and take it easy and look after yourself. Also, check with your onc .
