Seroma post-op

Nothing I can say that is not a useless platitude @TeePee .Trust your gut with the seroma, if you think it still needs attention get assertive about that. Which is exhausting, but it is your body and you are the best judge is what is going on. MXX

@TeePee,  Awww so sorry you had to go through all that and ended up with this shit thing to top it off. 

I had up and down monster seromas for months.  I never had it drained, that was a no no in my breast surgeons book, too much risk of infection and re-collection according to him.

If you sleep on your side put a soft duck feather  pillow in front of you and kind of hug it, you can shove the corner under the offending boob (if thats' the side you sleep on) and tuck it under your arm. If you sleep on the opposite side just put it under your arm so it can rest on it. 

 I sleep on my surgery  side normally, so it was really quite painful, actually I was hoping my breast wouldn't pop :smiley:  

The pillow takes away all the pulling and is nice and soft.  I still use this technique every night.  Hopefully it will work for you as well.

If you can find a lymphoedema therapist, that's possibly the best. Basically you are redirecting fluid. My therapist has never hurt, although I had a huge seroma to start with. Good luck. 

Who in their right mind is grateful they got cancer? I haven't seen any posts like that thankfully and I hope I don't!

The one that gets me is when people say god only does these things to people who are strong enough to handle it. Well f$&k me dead....I'm tired of being strong. My second child was stillborn at 36 weeks gestation and I feel like I used up my strength quota right there, followed by a horrific marriage breakup a few weeks later (that the kids and I are still dealing with), then this.

I'm also tired of people telling me how strong I am...I mean, what bloody choice do you have?

My seroma is still there and painful and I don't know what to do about it. I was seeing a physio for that and cording but I inadvertently complained that she hurt me and now she's not really interested in seeing me. Do I find another physio in Perth to help? For such a small thing it's bloody hurty, I can't get comfortable in bed!

This was my original post. Sorry it made you feel like that, but as you can see....you are certainly not alone. 

My seroma has finally gone after a 3rd drain however this was at the cost of an infection in my breast for which I had to have 14 days worth of antibiotics for. There is still a lingering red area, which has worsened with the commencement of radiotherapy last week-the nurses have taken photos each day to see how it is progressing. So far I do not have a fever, just a hot, red painful breast and is certainly not as bad as when I was diagnosed with an infection the first time where it was tracking up into my axilla. Ironically whilst having the antibiotics was the first time since surgery on the 5th of November that I had been without pain. I am sore again, but am unsure now if this is radiation related-I have very sensitive skin and already seem to be showing irritation. 

@Sister , @kmakm , @Afraser , @Zoffiel , @Doodoo , @AllyJay & @kittykat , I agree 100%. A colleague and I were both crying the other day as she is having a particularly difficult time also and were questioning why things like this happen to good people......Its crap really!

For those members who are religious, I apologise in advance, but I assure you, this is not personal. I send knitted items to a charity in South Africa which supports children and their families which are dealing with childhood cancer. I therefor follow their facebook page and am left fuming, with steam coming out of my ears, and then sobbing with rage when I see the following sorts of posts. "God works in wonderful ways and His plan is perfect"....the kid has cancer!!! "If you have the faith of a mustard seed, he / she will be cured"...WTF !!! So if the cancer stricken child dies, it's because the distraught parents didn't have enough faith??? And when, all too often a child dies..." He got his Angel Wings" or "God wanted another angel and so he took yours"...Well fuck me dead...if God is so powerful. loving and all that other shit, and he wants another angel, why give an innocent child cancer, so they can suffer and die, then use that for a new angel...why not just make another if he's such a hot shot???  Some people try to sugar coat the arsenic, but it's still poison. Rant over. phewww...
