Radiation side effects
Hi, Im new here, I am 5 weeks post surgery for double lumpectomy and will be starting radiation in 3 weeks. I've been told I will have scarring to my lungs as a result of radiation, just wondering how many on here have developed complications from this, Will also be starting on Arimidex at the same time. Have many of you had serious side effects from this drug as well? Any tips for treating the skin after radiation? How long afterwards do you feel tired for?

im sizzling big time. Using every cream possible as i had reaction to metafilm. The pain across my chest is horrid. ( double masectomy between chemo & rads ). Im exhausted tbh...any tips?Sign in to react to this post - TaraVMemberThanks for this discussion. It's helped me too. I have radiation coming up and these suggestions will help. I especially like the reminders to keep exercising. I did this before surgery and it helped me to stay mentally positive as well as the other health benefits. Now just post surgery I could easily have let it slide (like I usually do :) ) but instead I'll definitely try to keep up some gentle exercise and build from there. Take care everyone.Sign in to react to this post
- Lizzylou2MemberThanks Kari. I’ve just finished my first week. Was ok till Friday, now every joint in my body is aching. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?Sign in to react to this post
- Kari_2015MemberI had 25 rounds of radiation 2 years ago. The last two weeks were VERY uncomfortable - I have large breasts and was in Townsville during the heat and humidty of Jan/Feb - the best relief I found apart from aqueous cream was cloths soaked in cold salt water. Best Feeling Ever
I stil have numbness in one section of my breast, and maybe it is a conincidence, but when leaning right over on that side I experience an awful pain in my diaphragm area. I really disliked radiation, I felt more restricted than when on chemo in those last couple of weeks and a few after it was finsihed. The idea of having any clothing on in that area was very unappealing. Hopefully you will be one of those that flies through it without an issue. Best of luck. - Lizzylou2MemberI’m looking at the moo good oncology pack, I’ve used it before and loved it ( I even use it with a little water on my very dry and curly hair - it’s fantastic for stopping frizz). Looks very reasonable value wise - thanks for the tipSign in to react to this post
