Nipple delay procedure

@nikkid  I should try not to care as well... I like Melinda said "be really kind and nurture you and forget everything else. You become the most important thing above everyone else, instead of being everything to everyone else... it's time for you!" I will move in the hospital with my trailer without any doubt  :D :D

@nikkid Lol..., being a public patient sharing with other 3 patients in a room. I can imagine what other patients will think of me... 

I know @"Butterfly 40" sista! I joked to the nurses at St Vincent's that I was actually moving in....hehe x

Thank you sister Nikki! I have two Zonta cushions, a big wrap and the sheepskin ready to go. The breast nurse gave me a drain bag as well. I will be shopping for the v-pillow and other little things once I can drive. I might need a car trailer to take my hospital bag  :D xxx

@"Butterfly 40" a couple of other things that might help:
- did you get 2 'zonta' pillows? Your breast care nurse can org this ...they are great for resting, popping under your arm, and when in the car to protect you from the seatbelt
- a V shaped pillow from KMart.....helps prop you up (you will be lying on your back for some time) and keeps you comfy
- a big cotton scarf....or wrap....use this if you're feeling cold at night 

I love love love my sheepskin and am still using it.

@nikkid oh thank you sister Nikki! You have done so well. I am so happy for you for your new wonderful boob. I know there is no right or wrong, I just hope I will be happy with my choice.  I am reasonably calm at the moment, just resting from the nipple delay procedure done yesterday. I need to start packing my hospital bag. I remember you bought a medical sheep skin, I thought it's a great idea for when I have 2 drains each side. I bought one as well, hope to give me some comfort on the rough hospital bed. I have a coffee date with my girlfriends next Tuesday, they are great support to me. I am spoiled by my family as well. My husband and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in 2 weeks. We won't be able to go away to celebrate as we planned before my diagnosis. Hopefully I will be home to celebrate after my double mastectomy by then.

I agree with @nikkid honestly, we really have had the same experience with our surgeries, and I know its helped me immensely sharing it all with her. So the support absolutely is there, and Nikki is right, it can come from anywhere you choose :) M x

Hey @melclarity and @"Butterfly 40" thinking of you both. Like @melclarity I feel absolutely wonderful about my DIEP Recon....and it's such a different feeling to how I felt before my mastectomy. It was the fear of the unknown, but also the grief of losing my breast. Of course, everyone is different...and I certainly was very stressed before the DIEP (it was also an unknown and a bloody big op) but now, 4 and a bit weeks on I have a new wonderful boob and am so happy I chose this path. 

Melinda's advice about speaking with someone...whether it be a psych, your GP, a close friend, the breastcare nurse (or in my case most of the above and my naturopath) as long as you share your feelings and are supported.

@melclarity thank you Melinda! It's great that you recognised the need of seek help when you felt drowning before your mastectomy. That definitely has helped you got through the difficult time. Life certainly is very complex and throw all these surprises to us. We will get through and achieve our goals eventually. Xxx
