Nipple delay procedure

@socoda thank you for sharing your hospital experience, Cath! I hope mine will be as pleasant as yours. I will just concentrate to get better and get home sooner. I will take my reading books, colouring books, maybe my cross stitches or knittings if I can concentrate.  :)

Hi Butterfly40, Hope you're doing well. Just thought that I'd post about being in a public room. I was in hospital for 6 days and was in a two bed room and during that time I had 3 or 4 different ladies in sharing the room. All of the ladies I shared with were lovely - they were all in for different surgeries than mine ( single mastectomy with immediate recon) but were all very nice and all very busy trying to get better before being discharged. I too took practically everything I owned into hospital,  and used their gowns and my dressing gown and slippers and that was about it until the day of discharge. The things that I did use were the reading and colouring in books. Fantastic. I really didn't feel like I was in for that length of time and did make use of the cafeteria for lots of lovely coffee visits with friends and family. The nursing staff knew if I wasn't near my bed I was off having coffee. Nothing like catching up socially. All the best. Xx Cath

My nipple delay procedure went well. I am recovering well. I am going shopping with my daughter tomorrow to pick few more goodies for my hospital bag. My nipples are covered with big thick foams, I hope they are alive underneath. Lol... I will follow up with the biopsy results next week. Fingers crossed. 

I didn't have any photos taken prior to my lumpectomy, I was just in a total shock with the diagnosis. But my daughter took some photos for me prior to the nipple delay procedure. I am so glad I have those photos for my memory. Now I have an album for my boobs :D. I will keep a record post mastectomy to share at the reconstruction site. The photo stories at the choosing breast reconstruction site has definitely helped me in the process deciding what types of reconstruction is right for me.

 I hope you are recovering well and fingers crossed you may keep those nipples.  I have had delayed recon, so lost mine.  I have however gone on and had nipple reconstruction and tattooing and so glad I did.  Thanks for offering to share your pictures.  I hope the photo stories in choosing breast reconstruction have helped you.  I will add yours to the collection if you post them in there... all in good time.  Lets get you to this operation first.  We will all be here cheering you on.  It is a huge surgery but it sounds like you have a great team around you.  Having a GP you can talk to really helps as well.

I am glad that you shared your room with a lady you can whinge and grunt together. When I was at the recovery room post nipple delay procedure, the man opposite me was screaming and swearing the most atrocious language I have ever heard in my life soon he was awake from anaesthesia. He was so aggressive and disgusting towards the nurses. I felt so sorry for the nurses who were just doing their job and caring for him, have to deal with someone like that. Imagine if I get put in the room he is in for a few days, I will move out with my trailer without any doubt.  :# Big gentle hugs for you  <3

@"Butterfly 40" I love the trailer of the stuff!!! LOL I went public for this op, but Im used to going private, there was a pretty big difference I have to say. I luckily only shared a ward with 1 other lady and she was a 'Scream' honestly she was about 60 and had a double mastectomy/diep flap recon and was amazing!! We whinged and grunted together haha!!! she was great company! I did however sleep in the recliner as I couldnt manage the bed and purely due to the tummy wound. So I bought a recliner in readiness haha! and slept in that at home the first 4 nights I think lol...how we get through these things is amazing!!! Nikki has certainly managed the whole thing better than what I initially did, but I think now we are abreast of it hahaha!!! doing really well.
