Hi all,Just wondering, i am 1 week post op for mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes. Where the nodes where removed is sore and swollen but soft. Is that normal? Regards Trikki2 xxx

Hi @Blossom1961 Hugs to you. Yes i didnt want a trip to drs unnecessarily. I will keep my eyeon it. Love the special pillow they gave me, its keeping it comfortable. Yes painkillers are getting used.hang in there xxxTrikki2

I hope you feel better...my node removal was 6 wks ago and it stopped being painful probably 2 wks ago...give it time...but always if you have concerns see your GP xx

For me it felt as if it was being rubbed raw but there was no redness or chafing when examined. I ended up taping some really soft padding (the stuff they put under casts) under my arm as that seemed to help a lot.

Louise J ...yes they did get a clear margin second time round for me...i was told the first procedure was more so to see what we were dealing with rather than to get it all...infact thats when they found a small invasive ductal ca ...keep us in the loop...hope all goes well x

@Trikki2 Sorry to hear that! Hmmmm, sore, yes (my underarm/node removal area was more sore than the surgery area) but not so sure about the swollen & soft tho! It sounds like there could be some liquid buildup or possible infection. Are you able to make contact with your Breast Care Nurse and/or surgeon - maybe see your GP first up in case you have an infection? Do you have stitches in the area?All the best - I hope it settles down for you asap xx

Are you able to make contact with your Breast Care Nurse and/or surgeon - maybe see your GP first up in case you have an infection? Do you have stitches in the area?

Hi @Trikki2 I am in the same position. Eleven days post mastectomy and lymph clearance. Extremely sore and swollen. Home nurse sent me to their doctor who pronounced everything normal. They are interested if it is like a balloon but smallish swellings don't seem to excite them. However, if in doubt, get it checked out. It would be nice if we knew this stuff in advance wouldn't it! Get those pain killers out even if you don't want to. Hugs, cause we need it!

my excision was painful for a longtime....my BC nurse told me its because they upset a lot of the nerves around that area

Im doing well...i had a revision of my lumpectomy to get the margins just over 2 wks ago....i still have the blue stain ! ....going in for my radiotherapy mapping this thursday...going back to work monday after 8 wks off...just hoping RT doesnt give me any grief so i can keep working xx
