It really hurts around the site of my drain tube scar?
Hi everyone,
I have pain that seems new (? Last fortnight or so) all round the area where my drain tube would have been, internally. If that makes sense. If you visualise the line the tube would have made from the skin entry point up inside the body about 10cm and into the side of my boob - it hurts.
It’s nearly 12 months since surgery. The drain scar tissue is lumpy but looks fine in its own special way. But if I press around the area even gently, I get quite sharp tender pain. The lumpectomy scar doesn’t even hurt this much! My beautiful breast care nurses tell me it’s normal to still have pain this long after surgery and it just takes Time (that most excellent healer).
So does anyone else have this kind of sharp tenderness around their drain site a year later? I know pain is kind of subjective, but yknow! I’m worried there’s something wrong or maybe the pain has ramped up as a side effect of Zoladex. Just seems too weird that it’s so tender still.

- @Renatha I had one taken out in hospital a couple of weeks earlier and that one felt gross but didn’t hurt. I now have a full on drain phobia after the removal of the one at home though.
I had mine removed in the surgeon's rooms 2 days ago after 2 weeks, screamed when it really hurt. The lovely BCN was saying, Ssh ssh. The Dr went out and came back to have another go, and I then broke both hands of BCN and screamed, but quietly. Also thought I was going to pass out. 4 years ago it was taken out at home by DN after 2 days with no issues whatsoever.Kiwi Angel said:@kmakm. Just about broke my husbands had, screamed, swore and then thought I was going to throw up or pass out. I know have a huge phobia about it. Had another one removed in hospital with the partial mastectomy and that was just a weird sensation but not painful. @"Holly Prevails" @Sister @iserbrown @chocolate70 I have been quite lucky and am 3 months post surgery and have no issues at all with where the drain was.- Thanks you guys, I hope this painful massage scheme works because I don’t want laser therapy because $$$ I am broke!
Are there any good resources here or elsewhere talking about cording? I am guessing so but I don’t know where to start :/ - If you've got cording @"Holly Prevails" I would really recommend seeking out a specialist physio. I go to a group that do laser therapy as well as the traditional (painful) massage and it has done incredible things for me.

So ive been investigating and it turns out all my pain is from major fibrosis and cording! Yay! (Not)
i at least have some answers from the lymphoedema team team I see, and it’s not in my head. - @Kattykit I hope your leg settles too! My left side in general is just buggered. It’s like a domino effect. The boob, the armpit, the scars, the pain and they all knock over the hip and joint pain and insomnia and headache dominos. I have somehow never rolled on my bad side in my sleep. Or if so I totally didn’t know! I wonder if it’s a matter of slowly slowly introducing sleep on the bad side by lying on it with heaps of soft things under the sore bits. Like a soft fleecy cushion. Anyway - I dream of the days of taking my ability to roll from side to side for granted!
