Implants too Firm, how are yours?

Hi Ladies,

I am 44,  I had my exchange surgery 4mths ago to have my new implants put in from bilat mast. I have Allergan 410MX 550vol. I find them very very firm. They don't move much and to me and hubby they feel quite fake. They feel tight and somewhat uncomfortable at times.

I would love to hear what type of implant you have (brand, round or teardrop shape) and how soft and comfortable you find it/ them. How happy are you. If you have a round do you have the obvious step in the upper chest?

I understand the Allergan 410 are the firmest and have their benefits, but am missing soft breasts. Anyone have the Mentor CPG? I hear they are softer but still have the benefits of highly cohesive gel, where you maintain shape and dont get rippling.

Thx to you all.

  • Hi, we met up at the cafe in Seaford a lttle while ago (with Marion) and wanted to send a message through to see if you're okay.  Hope you might be able to make the monthly meetings in the future, next one is in Frankston :)

  • Thank you Annie, for your search. It is nice to know that my implants will possibly get softer. I really hope they do.
  • Hi Ladies, I also had Allergan 410FX 495ml implants. The FX stands for full height and extra full projection. They are the tear drop shape. It is about 16 months since my exchange, and they are reasonably comfortable. So much better than the expanders which were hard and seemed to have corners or creases in them. Because they appeared to sit unevenly I asked my PS to sit me up before he finished to check that my permanent ones would be level, and they are. They have softened with time, but they are not soft they real breasts. My PS said to expect them to keep improving for at least 6 months, but some will soften up to 12 months. Mine aren't hard like the expanders, but they feel rather like the external prosthesis that I wore for a few months prior to my reconstruction. My hubby is pretty happy with them and has never complained about them feeling hard. I have my cleavage back which is great, and there is no sand paper feeling or anything like that. My exchange took place about 3 months after my expanders were put in. Good luck. Love Chris xx
  • Hi,

I have just had mastectomy on one side with a tissue expander. I am up to 250ml so far and it feels like i have a bra full of sand paper. I am presuming that this does go away and yes I agree, weird shape, a bit poking out in a weird spot. Keen to hear how you go with the change over. How long did you have to wait before you could change from the tissue expander. I am so looking forward to the change to perm implants and at the same time the surgeon is going to fix up the other side to match.

Good luck Tan, hope it all goes well for you.

    Cheers, Jillian

  • Hi there

I am having my changeover surgery on Monday 27th, changing from tissue expanders to Mentor Smooth Round 425cc.  My tissue expanders are horrible, sit high, rock solid to touch and a very odd shape.

Hoping my implants will be different, and I will definetely let you know how i go.

    Tan
