Hot flushes and other stuff:)
Hello ladies!
Just a quick update on where I am in my 'journey'. I had some light spotting a couple of months ago,and because I am post menopausal, and on Tamoxifen,I had a biopsy. They didn't get enough tissue,so now I am having to have a hysteroscopy and D & C, just to make sure everything is ok.
I am pretty sure it will be, but this will be a good way of telling how things are going, so if there are changes in the future, they will know by how much.
My other thing, that is driving me nuts, are my hot flushes. They seem to be getting worse,so I decided to keep a record of when I get them, and see if there is a pattern.Would you believe, they start about an hour after I get up in the morning. They happen about every hour, all day, with about a 3 hour break in the afternoon, between 1 and 4.
Then they wake me about 3 times each night.I am going to start taking my Tamoxifen in the morning, and see if it makes any difference.I know there are medications that you can take, but I really don't want to go down that path if I don't have to.
Anyway, that is my update and my whinge!! I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be.
Cheers xox Robyn

- ronnie61MemberThat"s fantastic Robyn, so happy to hear, and having a good nights sleep is so important. I have been fine on Tamoxifen so far but I do get the ocassional hot flush. Our bodies must be getting used to this medication. lol xx
- Robyn_WMemberI just want to let you all know, that last night, for the FIRST TIME since I started Tamoxifen,I slept ALL NIGHT without waking because of a hot flush! It is now 1 pm and I have only had one very mild one today:) I can hardly believe it,and I'm hoping that this is the start of them finally becoming less frequent.Oh happy day!!!!!!!Cheers xox Robyn
- Robyn_WMemberHi Tashie,I am looking forward to winter as well. The thought of being able to sleep under a doona, and MAYBE not have to kick it off,is very exciting to me ! Lol.Cheers Robyn
- Tashie125MemberI too am getting hot flushes during the day and night. Much to the amusement of my girlfriends as I am only 37 so menopause is not really on the radar at my age but chemo has put me there. We have a bit of a laugh when I flush as I break out in a sweat and start fanning myself...I laugh along with them and say you wait, your turn will come and I can have the last laugh! During the night I wear light cotton shorts and a singlet to bed as I find I'm constantly throwing the sheet off trying to cool down, so my husband he has been suffering with the fan on too. I haven't found taking tamoxifen any different in the morning or at night. It's weird because I normally really hate being cold or even cool but now Im relishing coming into winter and cooler nights - hallelujah!
- Robyn_WMemberHi Helen.I wish I could give up a treat, and it would help, but I don't have anything like that.I try SO hard to eat and drink well,so I guess it's just me,and something that I will have to learn to live with.I have been having them for years, but just lately a lot worse. Anyway, things could be a lot worse, right? Take care .xoxRobyn
- Robyn_WMemberThanks Tonya:) That's why this is a nuisance really, cause I know it will be fine, but it's still important to do it! How you are well Tonya Cheers Robyn xox

My oncologist told me that it was quite common to have spotting for a few months when either starting or stopping Tamoxifen but to get it checked out if it went for any longer. The hot flushes are a pain for sure.My first hottie starts at 3am and then I get broken sleep after that.I've tried taking Tamoxifen in the morning and the night and it makes no difference.Taking Endep 10mg has definitely helped and hasn't given me any side effects. Good luck with the D&C Robyn,it's bound to be fine. Tonya xx
