Hello again

Hello again Ladies,

I hope you are all doing well as can be expected. It has now been a month since I was diagnosed with BC. Last Thursday I had surgery... mastectomy of the right breast.

I really wanted both done and was disappointed but my surgeon suggested we should wait and discuss further due to 'possible' complications of the left breast as i really need to heal some and start chemo as soon as.

I spent 3 days in hospital and today i had to go back to see my lovely Oncology Surgeon and BC nurse.

My bandages were removed and replaced and I got to see my scar clearly for the first time.  She has done a great job, so very neat and I appear to be healing well. It does hurt now and again, the 2 draines I think more than anything, but the pain killers help. Have been doing my exercises as Lymphodema scares me.

When I first saw myself in the mirror it did bring a tear to my eye but I guess i'll get use to it.

I got my Histopathology Report  -  At least 3.6cm IDC (grade 3) within approx 6cm of DCIS. This was a shock as the original biopsy of the smaller lump came back benigned. Took out 8 nodes of which 1 only showed up cancer and margins appear clear.  Don't really know what to make of it all now!!

TNM and Staging to follow pending immunohistochemistry.  Anyone know what TNM is or stands for?

That's about where i'm at, at the moment. Have another appointment on Friday to discuss chemo etc. being the next step in this journey.

Take care

  • Welcome to the online network, the most wonderful place for advice and support:) The TNM you are referring to ,I am pretty sure, stands for primary TUMOUR,lymph NODES,METASTISED.They are three letters that precede the word staging and explain what the staging looks at.I hope that helps.Take care xoxRobyn
