  • Hi Dianne, Tough one indeed! That blue injection is no fun ... Mastectomy is good and the date is not too far away, so do what ever helps you to relax? Long walks, chat with friends, read, music, garden, long hot bath - whatever feels good you deserve the treat! I had a mastectomy and am glad that parts over. For me it feels better to know its all gone (for now anyway). The process is tough but you'll find support in places you least expect it. Be strong, ask for what you need and know that you are special! Take care, k

  • That blue dye injection is horrible isn't it. It is one of my worst memories of my whole BC experience. Sorry you're having to go through the experience too. It sucks. I was diagnosed last April with 27mm estrogen +ve tumor, stage 2, grade 3, no lymph nodes involved.  I had surgery to remove it, (lump only not a mastectomy), 4 rounds of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation and now I'm on tamoxifen.

2012 was definitely a tough year for me. Losing my hair was probably the worst part. But here I am a year on from chemo and it is growing back, I am feeling healthy and life is good again. I know you've got a long journey to go through yet, but I just wanted to say that many of us do get through this relatively unscathed. It's a rough ride, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It really helps to share you experiences and read other people's stories on this site. And the women here are very supportive as well as being a mine of useful information too if you have any questions along the way. Good luck. I hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you. Janet.
