Zoladex and Tamoxifen

I have been on both Zoladex and Tamoxifen for 1 month, and to date not side affects.  Does anyone know how long it takes for any side affects to kick in or not (not that I want them).

Love and light to all.

  • Hi Georgia - I have just been to the hospital today to talk to a surgeon about having the hysterectomy surgery too. Initially I was told that it would just be the ovaries, but now it seems they want to remove ovaries, tubes and uterus. Recommended as the best course of action to stop cancer recurrence. Not sure when I will have the surgery yet, sometime in the next 6 months. Figure it has got to be better than having those awful Zolodex needles each month.

  • Hi Adean, with regards to hysterectomy. Did you have a choice.  I have been advised that later down the track I should think about removing my ovaries and then there is the risk of uterus cancer. So I am thinking of having a hysterectomy.  I want to eliminate all risks. Thanks Georgia :)

  • I was on tamoxifen and suffered joint pain, I changed to femara and it eased but when I went on zoladex chronic feet pain cramping feet and yes headaches. I recently had a hysterectomy and no longer have zoladex. Headaches gone and joint and feet pain improved. I didn't feel bad on it but once I didn't have it I thought hey I feel a bit more normal? Lol.  Adean xx

  • Hi,

I've been on Tamoxifen for a month as well and haven't had any side effects other than my muscles take a little longer to stop creaking.  I hope it stays this way :)

    cheers

  • Hi Natalie, just had my Zoladex injection tonight. Yep, it hurts and I'm pretty sure that I won't look forward to them each month! No side effects.

I really do hope that I won't experience any side effects. Going through mastectomy/DIEP Flap, I honestly hope that someone above can cut me some slack!

I hope that your headache/nausea passes. Ginger tea is great with with a little lemon and honey.

    Cheers

  • Hi Georgia

I am on Zolodex and Exemestane now, but previously was on Tamoxifen. I didn't have too many side effects with T apart from some hot flushes. So if you are feeling okay then maybe you will be lucky as well.

How have you found the Zolodex? I had my first needle 10 days ago - ouch - and with the Exemestane am having bad headaches and some nausea.

    Take care, Natalie
