What to eat!?
hey everyone
I'm a little under 2 weeks from my last chemo session (thankfreakinggod) but strangely I'm really struggling mentally with the general side effects I go through each cycle.
My main p...
I quickly discovered what I could and couldnt eat and I had made a firm decision that if I ever got anything seriously wrong with me, I eat heathy! (yeh I know, different!). The first round of chemo gave me oral thrush and my insentive then was not to ever have to put Nilstat in my mouth again it takes like bad bananas! Guess what, thrush feeds on sugar! So by removing all sugar, but FRUIT, I have fixed that and never had an issue again. My friend who had bc wacked on that weight, surprise, she at lots of salty chips and junk. I havent I am now my perfect weight, (the only bonus so far!). I work in a Pharmacy, so have always been careful to have a good diet. I also learnt about the guy who corrected all his health issues with Green Juices, and was lucky to be given the Breville Juicer made famous by his experience, and had it ready to use. I have juiced a few times each Chemo. Brill for when you dont want to eat. I also eat even when I dont want to eg. an apple. To maintain energy and nutrition. But most of all I tend to get aweful INDIGESTION in week 1 and more so now Im on Taxotere. This is a true story THE ALKALINE diet if you google it, will tell you what is digested the best. I do this strictly through week one, as bread, pasta, rice and chicken were doing me in. I also have to chew a thousand times, and eat 5 tiny meals a day (if I am hungry) eg a small bunch of grapes. Infact grapes and watermelon have been my main ones. I eat properly during week 3 each time, the only week I feel good. I dont eat red meat, it takes what 8 hours to digest, and Im careful with carbo's, as Im not exercising enough to need a lot. Normal amounts of carb requirements per day a plastic cup serving. I also borrowed some recipe books that give you basics nutrition from the Cancer Council here in Launceston. My advice, be smart, and you will be better off! Berri Juice frozen into ice cubes for the tongue, natural sugar. I drink lots of soda water and lemon squeezed in. Suck sugar free lollies. rinse 3 times a day with a teaspoon of bicarb in small glass of water, best of all Biotene mouthwash to perfect the Enzymes in your mouth. It has taken 14 days for that fowl taste to leave my mouth, so I fully understand what youre going through by lovely! Its yuck, and really we are all different and what works well for one - doesnt for another! I hope this helped you! XXXX Bel
