Well guess what now
Hi all hope everyone is fairing ok. Several weeks ago I went in for Gyno surgery luckily everything was ok. 2weeks post surgery I developed phlebitis, lots of clots on the leg, while in emergency they did bloods which they sent to my GP he calls me and says you need to come in you have to see a blood specialist something is wrong, well cut a long story short I have PRV or polycythemia ruba Vera whoa that's fancy. 1 in 100'00 have it. Well it had to be me high white and red cells and a mutant gene in the marrow. Can you believe this just when bc is good whamo something else. This is long term not curable. So to begin with weekly removal of 1-2 litres of blood and blood tests as well till it gets to a good level to prevent a stroke!, if that doesn't work chemo in tablet form. No rhyme or reason just got it. My dr cracked me up I'm 54 and he says at least you have youth on your side LOL. On the way home I had a good cry and thought god I must have been bad in my past life. - You poor darl,what a rough time you are having.I think sometimes we get a bad run and cop a few crappy years in a row.You have certainly had the goal posts moved on you again.So sorry to hear about your blood disorder- hope you don't need the chemo tablet.It does make me wonder sometimes if radiation and chemo treatments might trigger off these problems.Just me thinking out loud.I hope you've recovered from today.What's with the no alcohol,caffeine or hot baths??Well you'll just have to resort to chocolate or sex,drugs and rock n roll!! - Thanks Ronnie and all you lovely ladies had my 3rd treatment today which turned into a bit of a drama as I lost sensation in my hand and it would not return, panic stations from the nurses but eventually they realised what the issue was ,so hopefully next week it will be less eventful. Adean
