Hi all hope everyone is fairing ok. Several weeks ago I went in for Gyno surgery luckily everything was ok. 2weeks post surgery I developed phlebitis, lots of clots on the leg, while in emergency they did bloods which they sent to my GP he calls me and says you need to come in you have to see a blood specialist something is wrong, well cut a long story short I have PRV or polycythemia ruba Vera whoa that's fancy. 1 in 100'00 have it. Well it had to be me high white and red cells and a mutant gene in the marrow. Can you believe this just when bc is good whamo something else. This is long term not curable. So to begin with weekly removal of 1-2 litres of blood and blood tests as well till it gets to a good level to prevent a stroke!, if that doesn't work chemo in tablet form. No rhyme or reason just got it. My dr cracked me up I'm 54 and he says at least you have youth on your side LOL. On the way home I had a good cry and thought god I must have been bad in my past life. Sorry to hear what you are going through and have been through already. Just thought I'd let you know you are not alone in thinking when do I get a break! I had a brain tumour (surgery - 2002); a arare, invasive and aggressive thyroid cancer (multiple surgeries and radiation - 2009/10); then BC (Grade 2, Stage 2, left breast mastectomy, Tamoxifen - 2013). Actually was diagnosed with the BC the month after my throat specialist said (for the first time ever) that maybe we had finally got it. Let me go for a mommogram the next month (I had turned 50 and those involved in my case had felt I should skip it the year before). Got a phone call in less than a week saying I had to come back for more tests. Luckily they got it relatively early - couldn't even be felt on physical exam. I know the feeling of what did I do to deserve this - like the old saying goes - shit happens! LOL - I just ask why does it always seem to happen to me! But now I am thinking I have had my 3 things - and hopefully all will be good from here on - fingers crossed (and toes and everything else). You will get through it all - even if it seems hard at times. But just think, with the blood removal you can always say you have no bad blood anywhere! You will probably get a bit anxious every time you have a check up looming (I know I do) but know that there is always this forum and people here who are listening and there along with you. You poor darl,what a rough time you are having.I think sometimes we get a bad run and cop a few crappy years in a row.You have certainly had the goal posts moved on you again.So sorry to hear about your blood disorder- hope you don't need the chemo tablet.It does make me wonder sometimes if radiation and chemo treatments might trigger off these problems.Just me thinking out loud.I hope you've recovered from today.What's with the no alcohol,caffeine or hot baths??Well you'll just have to resort to chocolate or sex,drugs and rock n roll!! Thanks Ronnie and all you lovely ladies had my 3rd treatment today which turned into a bit of a drama as I lost sensation in my hand and it would not return, panic stations from the nurses but eventually they realised what the issue was ,so hopefully next week it will be less eventful. Adean
