My lymphoedema physio said Letrozole makes arthritis worse. My GP said no, it makes the PAIN of arthritis worse. Have been doing some googling about AIs and arthritis. Apparently significant research in the UK and US about AI-induced rheumatoid arthritis - and the fact that it doesn't go away after patients stopped taking the AI. I'm going to be asking more questions of my GP and my oncologist (when I see her again in May). Obviously GP is not aware of this research, but that doesn't surprise me. He told me a couple of months ago that he's "learned so much" from me. Clearly he's not one of those doctors who spend their evenings reading research abstracts. Given the way things have gone in the past week, I'm absolutely convinced that what I have in my hands now is rheumatoid arthritis. When they did the top-to-toe bone scan before surgery, they said "arthritis" but not what type - in hands, feet, knees, lower spine. I already had osteoarthritis in my knees. Replacement of left knee three years ago was only marginally successful and I still have pain, which has been worse in recent months.
