Tightness and pain

3 weeks since my bilateral mastectomy. The tightness is wearing me down. I was fine about the mastectomy and the cancer and even chemo but this constant tightness and skin sensitivity is too much. I told the physio at the breast clinic that they should tell women about this and she just looked at me and said "oh ok". I am a very strong woman with a high pain tolerance but I have had enough.

  • I had a bilateral mastectomy in June last. It does take time for things to settle down. I experienced tightness for a couple of months or more post surgery...but feeling much more comfortable now. I found massaging Moo-Goo along the suture line and surrounds about x4 times a day to be helpful. Also wearing a nice soft loose fitting singlet under my clothing. Keep up your exercises too.. Hope this helps. Chris.x
  • Even with a single there is tightness. Are you taking painkillers so you can do your exercises. The exercises are so important for this .I can't offer much other help, but I remember it took a month for me with a single mastectomy to feel ok.Dont be too hard on yourself.Cheers xoxRobyn
