The Joys of Dexamethasone
Well, the side effects of Dex have truly hit me in the last few days! Less than a week out from my third chemo and I am sick of feeling like a bloated lump who gets home each night with cankles and sock and pant marks embedded into my legs, the low grade nausea when I eat for the last few days, vaguely funny stomach and the muscle weakness is a killer. Used to be just when I exercised and tried to run (not that I can do that now) or walk uphill but in the last few days it has turned into more of a constant. My lymph node removal arm that slightly puffed up when I started chemo now feels more uncomfortable. Feel about 80 years old today. I know there are people that have it way worse than me but just had to have my whinge today!!

- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm - will do - they seem to deflate a lot overnight. Doesn’t help my job requires a lot of standing.
- kmakmMemberHang in there Steph! Make sure you elevate them when you get home.
- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm. I was just sitting at the desk at work and looked down and was like what the hell is going on with my feet!!!!!
- kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" I online purchased two pairs of shoes during chemo! Funny what one does when it's hard to get up off the sofa/bed and you're just lying there looking at your feet...
- Kiwi_AngelMemberMy cankles have cankles!!!
- kezmuscMemberHey @kmakm. Good to hear from you. Fingers crossed you can get out soon. Hopefully they will give you a bit of time to recover before you start on the HT.
@"Kiwi Angel" ask for 5 weeks and you might get four LOL. - Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm nice to hear from u and see that u r doing much better. Thanks for thinking of me. Feeling better the last couple of days. Still puffy like a blowfish and the muscle weakness is frustrating but managed to do the groceries and clean the house this morning before going to work. My biggest concern now is if I can wear my heels out to lunch on Saturday with my fat, puffy feet! I bet @Finch is busy in the garden - it looks like a big one. @kezmusc it will be interesting to see how much leeway I get befor starting. I’m thinking maybe 3 weeks as week cause she wants to make sure if I get any side effects she knows if it’s feom the chemo or the tablet. Longer would be nice though.
- kmakmMember@kezmusc I'm expecting my AI prescription Friday next week. I'm still in hospital. Not happy... Would have loved a chance to feel 'normal' but I guess that's never going to happen again.
- kmakmMemberHi Steph. I hope you're doing OK and having a good 'good' week. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. @Finch has been on a murdering rampage in her garden. It's all go with her! ;) :) <3 K xox
- kezmuscMemberI wanted four weeks between the end of rads and Tamox. We negotiated 3wks. Better than nothing.
