TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm I might have to try that too. The only things I like at the moment when I have that feeling that a small furry animal has taken up residence in my mouth is soft drink (which I normally never have) and salty stuff. Love pineapple so will have to try that. The acidity might cut through the fur!!
- kmakmMember@jewel-ee Thanks hun xox
- jewel-eeMemberok i will take your word for it @kmakm and try some ;-) i've got get some food to stay in me so i can get up and walk lol.
i am now just catching up on your recon - only up to day 3 & omg you look amazing!!!! Awesome work girl . Jxxx - kmakmMemberNot at all @jewel-ee! Like many I found a good squeeze of lemon or lime made water palatable during chemotherapy. So the acidic nature of the pineapple hit the same spot.
There's an enzyme in pineapple that is used to help digestion, Bromelain it's called. It worked a treat for me. In fact, lying here feeling nauseous and talking about it is making me crave some!
Let me know how you get on if you give it a try! K xox - jewel-eeMember@kvakm I would never have considered pineapple! It wasn't acidic on your system?
- jewel-eeMemberthank you @soldiercrab the lentil soup sounds so good as does the deicious fettucine @sister (it has all of my favourite ingredients) but i may have to leave it until my digestive system recovers a little. the weight loss (and I had very little muscle to start with) seems to be increasing? I might have to order my fav japanese udon noodles - soothing
Jxxx - kmakmMember@Sister Well now that sounds very nice indeed. Any volunteers?! ;)
- SisterMember@jewel-ee I kept a tub of hommous in the fridge and would have a spoonful of that when energy levels were dipping and I couldn't eat much. Also a tablespoon of fruit muesli with a dash of milk. My favourite meal when things got better was fettucine (so easy on the tummy) with cooked cherry tomatoes, black olives and garlic topped with a couple of spoonfuls of basil pesto - I could really taste the flavours when everything else seemed bland.
- SisterMemberSounds like someone has to make you a Hummingbird Cake @kmakm
- kmakmMemberI adored frozen fresh pineapple on TC. As the cycles progressed it got better and better. My GP put me on to it. I still have somecin the freezer from the last pineapple we sliced and diced. It's delicious but as my tastebuds returned, the obsession receded!
