TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- jewel-eeMemberah thank you @Zoffiel - avo is one of my favs . Jxx
- ZoffielMemberAvocado can be ok. Its gentle on your tummy @jewel-ee and gives you some valuable nutrients. A little bit of salt and maybe a squeeze of lemon if it takes your fancy. Try thin slices or mash some on a biscuit. Mxx
- jewel-eeMemberwell i have had a similar, if not stronger, reaction to chemo 2 as I did to the first cycle -I;m finding that I just cant eat for this first week. I managed to keep symptoms under control over the weekend but the lack of food and overwhelming fatigue hit me hard on monday. I am just going to have to accept that I cant work the first week :(
I am so pleased I wrote my thoughts last time so I know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel.
I would welcome any very very gentle food suggestions - keeping in mind i can only manage yoghurt, crackers and a little bit of bread atm. I am sure if i could keep food in I would feel so much much better -the stemetil settles the tummy and the gastrostop is magic
TIA Jx - Kiwi_AngelMember@PatsyN. Sounds like u have been through the ringer!! Luckily (touch wood). I haven’t had too many bad side effects apart from quite bad bone pain from the Neulasta injects to boost the WBC. My oncologist has given me stronger pain relief for this round and if that doesn’t work I can have stronger tablets. I wear black nail polish which I am hoping will protect my nails and I get abit of a rash on my chest for a few days. I like @Sister and @kmakm would love more info on why it was banned in Japan - might have to do some Dr Google work. @jewel-ee that’s what I found if u have 4 or 5 days where u feel like crap - every day I feel the tiniest bit better. Best wishes to u all ladies xoxox Steph
- SisterMemberIt would be interesting to hear why it's not used in Japan. I know my onc will use it if necessary but not as a usual (I think he says it's better in lower doses with prostate cancer but i may have made that up).
- kmakmMember@Finch Nuts & prunes are pretty much daily for me. Nutritious and delicious!
- kmakmMemberI think you've earned some bragging rights @PatsyN!
All my fingernails are mottled and brown, and yes, it happened overnight, though not the same night. Several of my toenails are dark brown or growing bigger dark brown patches by the day.
I was not offered any injections. Maybe that's because you were having your dose more frequently?
And how fascinating that TC isn't used anymore in Japan. I'd love to know more about that decision.
I hope the horse therapy is going well. K xox - PatsyNMember@kmakm I had no problem with my bowels. Chia seeds is the answer. 4 parts liquid (coconut milk is what I use) to 1 part chia seeds (black or white) then add honey and some goji berries or whatever. It sets in the fridge in half an hour. They contain protein, fibre and calcium and will soften those lead balls or stop the runs. They were my most valuable food resource together with cold pressed juices (water makes me gag). I lost most of my fingernails and toenails but they grew back better than before. I shaved my head before the second treatment. I wanted everyone to know I had cancer and that I wasn't some kind of drug addict or drunk. I swayed as I walked and lost my balance constantly. By the time I'd finished the 12 weeks of Taxol I was bedridden.
