TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- PatsyNMemberI hate to brag but my Docetaxol/Cyclophosphamide came every 2 weeks, not every three weeks. My nails turned brown overnight, I dried my back too vigorously with the towel on about day 3 and took the top layer of skin off. No sooner than 24 hours after your infusion has finished you must take the injection that they give you in a little esky. It's most definitely life-saving is what I was told and I MUST NOT FORGET! One time we left it at the hospital and the nurse chased us down the street. Another time my daughter and I both forgot! It was about 1am in the morning when she casually came into my room ready to give me my shot. @kmakm I agree there is not much information about this particular chemo which was outlawed in Japan over 20 years ago.
- FinchMember@jewel-ee sorry to hear you're in hospital and had a tough week. I hope you're home tomorrow and start to feel back to normal. I'm also the other way the first week so took 2 coloxyl with my Dex today . Let us know how you are xx
@kmakm .... I'm eating dried prunes everyday and about 10 plain peanuts which works well for me. Counting down with you , hugs xxxx - jewel-eeMemberthx @kiwi angel - i should be home tomorrow - and yes I've had a few hours today of feeling less tired. that was better than yesterday and it will hopefully be better again tomorrow :)
I hope you are feeling okay.
Jxxx - jewel-eeMember@kvakm heehee if only i could eat the dark choccy I would be there in a flash!
Yep you are doing the right thing for you - hang onto that thought.
I keep reading the breast recon pages as a beacon for me when my treatment is complete. My bs didn't want to write me a referral to the plastic surgeon until I was 12 mths post treatment. And now i hear there are up to 5 yr waiting lists on the gold coast. wtf.....
So I am very impressed with the speed of the completion of your treatment and your reconstruction - tho perhaps the speed of the rolllercoaster could be contributing to your anxieties
Jxxx choccy lover - kmakmMemberGood tip @Zoffiel, thank you.
@"Kiwi Angel" Thanks Steph, I hope so. - Kiwi_AngelMember@jewel-ee that’s no good - I do the other way so I start taking laxatives when I’m on the dex and I’m pretty regular otherwise. Sorry to hear u r in hospital - I hope u get to go home soon xoxoxox. Hopefully u have an easier time with the next one and u should start feeling less fatigue soon. Not long at all for u @kmakm - all quite scary but u r doing the best thing for yourself. xoxoxoo
- ZoffielMemberTry a teaspoon of good quality coconut oil day and night Kate. I have used that as an alternative to laxatives in that 'half way' stage where you just need a bit of help and want to wean off as many tablets as possible. Mx
- kmakmMember@jewel-ee A doctor told me once that dark chocolate had 'firming' qualities if that helps!
11 days to go & getting very anxious :/ Still, I know I'm doing the right thing. Jolly hard though. K xox - jewel-eeMemberlol i'm looking forward to hardening up @kmakm. no advice with the laxative I just hope everything is sorted soon. Not many more days for you to surgery?I am very happy to have a semi-settled tum phew
Jxxx - kmakmMember@jewel-ee That's no good Jules. Hope you get sorted soon. I had diarrhoea after Cycle 1 of TC but thereafter set like concrete... I'm coming up to five weeks since my last chemo and I'm slowly weaning myself off the laxatives. I tried going cold turkey last week but I locked up instantly! Desperate to be 'normal' in this area once more :)
