TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- jewel-eeMemberThat is great to hear @Kiwi angel - a week and a half each cycle for you would be awesome!
and yes I will ask the oncologist for some thing for sleep and the nausea - the maxolon is just not doing anything.
and @Finch lucky you had an akubra handy - small mercies
Jxxx - Kiwi_AngelMember@Finch - you are very organised - I have been looking at options just incase needed. Did u go for a wig like your own hair or something outlandish, crazy and fun? Did u get any itching of your scalp before it started falling out?? I’m sure u will look fabulous xoxox
- FinchMemberI bought a wig, a couple of caps/turbans and some scarves. I did that last Tuesday when I started to feel better, so that all was in place for when it started to fall. I have my shortish bob in a ponytail right now so that the hair can't fall out everywhere and it sort of keeps it in place. It's very sparse but ok for at home. Tomorrow I think I may need a scarf or a cap and scarf.
Until Friday there was no sense to me that my hair was going to come out at all. It is such a sudden thing. Xx - jewel-eeMemberThank you @Finch - the tummy is settling and i am hopeful of sleep tonight :-)
have you decided on scarves? i have a lgfb workshop coming up soon so i can learn how to wear them....more learnings. Jx - Kiwi_AngelMember@jewel-ee. It sux doesn’t it - such a private battle that is so hard to deal with even without the intrusions of others. So sorry to hear about your nausea and diarohhea. I have been spared both of those but have to take dulcolax when I am on the steroids or I get constipated. Maybe ask your oncologist if u can have some stronger anti nausea meds and also some sleeping tablets if needed. I asked mine for a few scripts and she wrote them out for me. All about your quality of life and comfort. I have maxalon and zoffran at home for nausea if needed. I had my first dose 2 weeks ago tomorrow and have actually felt normal since last Tuesday - will be nice if I continue to feel good for a week and a half of each cycle. I’m like u with the tastebuds - flavours are quite muted and I need lots of salt and things with a strong flavour - I also can’t have my beloved spicy food as it burns my mouth. Take care xo
- FinchMemberThanks everyone. My life seems to be made up of these little happenings. Xxxx
@jewel-ee I slept hardly at all those first couple of nights (with the steroids) and since then my sleep pattern has been great. First good sleeps in years in fact. Hopefully yours sorts also. It was more constipation for me, so I'll be taking coloxyl again at the start of second treatment. The first week was a bit of a blur now that I look back. All the best xxxx - jewel-eeMemberTotally agree @Kiwi Angel - i have told those i wanted to tell at work but soon they will all know,,,,,and have to keep up at least part time work.
The nausea and diarrhoea are pretty damned ordinary results of the first round of TC on friday, felt fab the first night and ate really well - silly me! couldn't sleep for hours. but now i'm learning the joys of promite toast and crackers and avo. should be able to venture out soon. i'm so pleased to have already read everyone else's experiences so at least i knew this was a possibility. thank you! Jx - kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" I think that if I was in paid employ at a workplace I would have got a wig.
- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm. I feel the same about the private becoming public - that was my issue with hair loss - it will always grow back, it was the fact everyone would know that I had cancer. It’s my business and only the people that I choose to tell about it should know. I was very anxious about being at work and clients staring or asking inappropriate questions. At least I can hide the fact I’m missing a boob!!
