Taxol
Greetings, I am currently at 5/12 Taxol treatments. Going ok, but wanted to ask if others out there in Taxol land have had a rash....And have your eyelashes fallen out as mine have ? I have had surgery, 4 rounds of Epirubicin & will be having radiotherapy & hormone treatment at the end of all treatment. I did lose most of my hair so had my head shaved, now it is growing back & still red !! Thought it may grow back grey or white..Only about 1/2 inch so far...will probably go again with radiotherapy!

- Wren20MemberI have just gotten into bed, with my current book, Pachinko...enjoying it...it is one perfect way to get to sleep, reading before sleep. Relaxing, alters the brain thoughts, lets one go into another world...nice! So yes, will probably sleep well, thanks kmakm
- kmakmMemberOh gosh @Wren20, that is such a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much, you've made my day.
I haven't been here long but this forum has helped me so very much. I am genuine when I say I want to help those who come after me. By giving back I hope I can help someone like I've been helped. And I think it's pointless unless I'm honest. This is a safe space and I trust that being open will encourage others to be, and then we can all learn and benefit.
That got very earnest! Hope you sleep well tonight. K xox - Wren20MemberWhat a great idea...will be interesting to see what you discover !
I feel an infinity with you kmakm...your humour, your stoicism, your willingness to converse with all of us and to share so honestly with us all. Thanks ! - kmakmMember@Afraser @Wren20 @kezmusc I am screen shotting all these vitamin suggestions for Kmakm's Clinical Study!
- AfraserMemberI started on Vit D before chemo as my levels were low (27) and still take it 5 years later. I burn easily so stay out of the sun which does not help your Vit D levels ( if I get a skin cancer, I will spit!). I take Vit B for peripheral neuropathy, think it stil helps but that's a slow burner. Magnesium and Q10 at cardiologist's suggestion. Biotin to help strengthen hair (had a slight shedding scare 2 years after fully regrown but all fine). Fish oil, calcium and probiotic. I am on letrozole, have no aches or joint pains, just the ageing knees I had before all this started!
- Wren20MemberOooo...I started something here ! But I just wanted to discuss the concept of using supplements, in conjunction with diet, chemo, exercise, sleep, energy etc.. So to own up to what I use, here goes...Olive Leaf, Magnesium & Bark combo, Probiotics, hair, nails, skin combo tab, turmeric & have also just added Vit B complex as suggested for numb fingers and numb toes. My oncologist is ok with my involvement in choosing these. I would DEFINITELY say that they help. I do notice when I don't imbibe of these ( away, forget, run out etc..) I have also been using argan oil on my bald head, where my hair is now growing back quite well. Cheers all, hope everyone had a good day and your walk was lovely kmakm...I had a beach walk, gorgeous !
- kmakmMember@kezmusc I'm jolly well going to conduct my own clinical trial on myself. I don't want to waste money on pills that don't work, but I won't know until I give them a go :)
- kezmuscMember@kmakm and @Sister, I should just about rattle when I walk LOL. I take Krill oil for the brain and joints, calcium magnesium +D3 for the bones, Glucosamine for the joints and Swisse mega B+ apparently B3 + B6 are good hormone balance rs and energy boosters. Thank you hormone therapy!
Who knows. Can't hurt to try though I say. Luckily my radiation oncologist is pretty open to whatever makes you feel better. The others not so much. If it hasn't been in a clinical trial they don't want to know about it. They don't trial these things as they come under the banner of "Food stuffs" not pharmaceutical. Let's hope they change their mind about that soon.
XOXO - SisterMemberI'm very interested in gut health, too. I think there's going to be a lot more that comes out about it in the future. Enjoy your walk.
- kmakmMember@Wren20 I am thinking and investigating vitamins at the moment. I take Vitamin D because otherwise my level is very low (17). My oncologist says you don't need to if you have a good diet, and I'm pretty good with my nutrition.
I'm going on to Anastrozole soon and she did say Krill Oil can help with the joint pain. Lots of women here say magnesium helps, but my oncologist said no evidence. Like much of the mainstream medical community I don't think she's into complementary therapies. I'm going to see how I go and make up my own mind.
I am looking after my gut as there is a growing body of evidence that your gut health influences the health of everything else in your body. I'm depleted from chemo so I reckon my gut is as well!
Hanging up laundry now and then heading off on a walk. Melbourne's weather is heavenly today!
