Just curious if the decline in my vision is tamoxifen related?..if anyone has experienced this and will it get worse?..I feel sad that my body continues to let me down...really missing normal today!!...or is that the damn tamoxifen too??

- Red1MemberMy eyesight seems to get worse everyday since starting the tamoxifen 4 months ago, I couldn't see to get a splinter out of my little boys foot the other day, had perfect eyesight before all this Cancer Business...one eye is now double vision. The optometrist said it's more important to take the tamoxifen then to worry about the vision problems, I can't help but worry I don't want to be blind.
- arpieMemberBooked in for my checkup on Friday! I've noticed a decline in my vision - also a lot of dryness and floaters.
- kmakmMemberAlmost 18 months on Letrozole and no problems with my eyes so far.
- AfraserMemberI have heard that also about letrozole, however my own cataracts were first diagnosed I think just before commencing the medication. Whether it had made it worse is impossible to tell, cataracts almost invariably worsen. My mother had cataract treatment at almost exactly the same age so I am not inclined to blame letrozole. All fixed and I am now glasses free (for everything except close work) for the first time in six decades!
- SoozMemberI have been told that Tamoxifen can cause cataracts or make existing ones worse. I am 45 and have some cataracts that I was born with so had these checked before I started Tamoxifen. I will be monitored every year unless I need it. I am finding that I get blurry vision more often, I am short sighted and can still read though and see things close up. I have only been on the drugs 7 months so who knows what will happen. I go see the optician yearly anyway because of the cataracts but it might be a good idea to get your eyes checked if you haven't already. Another thing to check I know but worth it I think.
- kezmuscMemberShocking eyesight within 6 months of starting Tamoxifen. 45 when I started taking it with perfect vision. I've been on it for 2 and a half years. On my second set of glasses already and have floaters in one eye. I litterally cannot see anything close up.
- RomlaMemberMy eye specialist told me Tamoxifen has a reputation for eye issues. From my experience with a Letrozole I’m guessing it does too just not been enough research on this relatively new drug.
- Michele_BMemberMy eyesight definitely deteriorated while I was on Tamoxifen but was also late 50s so wasn't sure which was to blame. Medication or age!!
- TonyaMMemberI was in my mid 50’s when on Tamoxifen and took it for 4yrs.
