Switch to arimidex

Hi ladies. I hope you are all doing well.

I saw my oncologist this week and looks like i will be making the switch to arimidex after the holidays.

We are concerned about how well it will be tolerated as unfortunately i have joint pain already so if i get the usual side effects and i am in lots of pain it might not be the drug for me.

In preparation i have started an active joint formulation of red krill oil and glucosamine.

What have others found when they made the switch to arimidex and what are you taking if anything to manage joint pain.

Maryrose ????

  • Hi loreto

Keen to know how you go with arimidex. I have been on tamoxifen for a year with no side effects except for the hot flushes whch i have learnt to live with.  I had a period of time that i was in constant knee, neck and back pain due to various injuries. I dont want to go back there again so hoping that i can tolerate the arimidex. I start mid January as we are going away for the holidays and oncologist recommended to start when we get back.

  • Hi Ladies

I am going to start taking arimidex tomorrow, having been on tamoxifen since March 2015.  Visited my oncologist on Tuesday and he said I should change, but I am a little nervous about the side effects.  Am use to tamoxifen side effects now, so I hope arimidex side effects aren't too bad. Good to hear you are feeling ok after taking it Rowdy.

    Cheers Loreto

  • Hi maryrose, I too am on arimidex, I have found for the joint aches and hot flushes that magnesium has helped me a great deal, I no longer take Panadol at night now as its not needed and the hot flushes has eased considerably as well, hope this helps. Glynnis ????

  • Hi Maryrose,

Iv been on Armidex for 2 months now and have always taken glucosamine and krill oil, but unfortunately none are working .I feel like a arthritic 90 yr old and I am 56 !!Especially if I have been sitting for a while .I work standing all day and look forward to sitting relaxing , but when I get up I can hardly walk !  Seems to have worsened over the past 2 weeks,  Ill mention it to my Oncy next week. Im on Hecepton every 3 weeks as well, may have something to do with it  . Itd be wonderful if this feeling subsided after a while. Hopefully something magic help is out there. 5 yrs on this drug may be a long tie . Good luck

    Cheers  Sandra (Hawks )
