Starting chemo soon

Hello,

This is my first blog so hope I go okay.

I have read ladies different experiences and it is such a great help to have the same feelings along the way even though I haven't started chemo I have had the lump removed and lymphnodes taken out and I am still very sore.

It hasn't quite been a month since I had the operation and still are frustrated I cannot do much and am tired and now I need to have chemo as it was stage 3 and even though it wasn't in the nodes it was trying to get in.

So now I feel all these mixed emotions.

  • I too have just started TC Chemotherapy (25th July) so just a bit ahead of you. Shelli is right about the biotene toothpaste and mouth wash...I haven't had any mouth ulcers! I also use MOO GOO moisturising creme for my skin...as your skin will be dry after chemo. You need to be kind to yourself...rest as you need to and perhaps take yourself for a walk as you can...it does make you feel better. It is an overwhelming emotional roller coaster ride..this cancer journey...but we are all here to help each other any way we can. BIg hug..take care. Chris x

  • Hey Saphire! Though I would say HI! I am currently about to have round 5 chemo + a cocktail of other drugs - and if I can help with your questions in any way just yell out! It is such a up in the air and confusing time...but there are some things you can do to get ready.... get an amazing toothpaste and mouthwash like biotene, get some good skin cream/serum - i use a combination of Aesop and Swisse ones. Baby Wipes, i found peppermint tea was the best flavour for my taste buds but everyone is different, wheat bags and stuff like that - having a kit of practical stuff you need will really help you when you start! I have heaps to share so don't hesitate to yell out! :-)
