Spams/cramps?

Hi. I’m in my early 40s.&nbsp;&nbsp;I completed active treatment in April 2019 with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bilateral mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction and axillary clearance.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ultrasounds, to date are clear.Over the last 3ish months, I’ve been experiencing episodes where I would have spasming/cramping symptoms under my left armpit which extends into the pec (breast area).&nbsp;&nbsp;Sometimes it would happen when I am leaning on my left arm whilst reaching for something, for example - I dropped something and it rolled under a low table, and I then have to get on the floor, lean onto my left arm whilst reaching out with my right ... then bam... spasm.Another incident would be where I have had a massive spasming episode under my left arm and around the pec area.&nbsp;&nbsp;I had just been holding a book in my left hand.&nbsp;&nbsp;Set it right off and lasted for about 30 seconds.Is this normal behaviour after BC treatment?

Yes - I have cramping in my upper back, under/around the shoulder blades which occurs even when lying down. &nbsp;Annoying.

Suggest you ask your GP for a referral to a Physio or try the Breast Care Centre at your treatment hospital (may not exist if you are rural). FSH in Perth has a physio in their BC Centre. You could try discussing this with a McGrath nurse.

It may possibly be scar tissue tightening - it’s surprising how long that can continue, particularly with an axillary clearance. But best to get it checked out with a breast care nurse or physio. If it is, stretching exercises can help. Best wishes.&nbsp;

Hi @jintie, I actually read your post twice to make sure I hadn’t written it myself. I have the exact same issue but it’s every muscle, not just post-mastectomy relevant bits. It happens in my back, my legs, my toes even. It’s random, often triggered by a position or something simple (e.g., every time I bend to do my shoes I spasm right across my ribs and around to my back). It’s momentary, not like a true cramp, but it’s enough to stop me in my tracks. I have tried B12, magnesium, etc., but nothing really helps. Let me know if you find a solution! All the best X

Yes, me too. I'm 5 yrs since op. Still have issues with cramp/spasms. I do see a physio which helps.
