  • Yep...I took a photo of that too and of every chemo....interesting to see the changes...abd now with my hair growing back
  • Thanks for that Primek , Afraser and Deanne,I got in touch with my hair dresser tonight and she is coming around tomorrow night to take it off for me. Thought I might get one of the friends to do a before and after shot. Just for the heck of it.  Won't be a grand pic cause Im not wearing my denture, each time I put them in they take a layer of skin with them when I take them out.
Saw the surgeon today she's happy with ct. and we will be sorting the surgery schedule in February.
  • My hair fell out day 17...and I was told to expect it by day 14...I had AC. My hair hurt and my scalp itched so once it began to fall my hairdresser buzzed it off for me. It was such a relief. I used to wash my head with a face type cleansing cream and moisturised for a while as my scalp was super dry. I had caps etc all ready for this day and some scarves. I found cutting off my hair when I chose liberating, kind of gave me some control back. Take care. Kath x
  • My hair also fell out exactly two weeks after my first AC chemo, but I have heard of it falling out earlier. My scalp didn't itch, but it felt sunburned and sore. Like Deanne, my hair felt awful (looked OK) and I was not at all sad to have it go - felt like I was wearing someone else's hair, a sensation I never got with a wig! But the early loss may also be a combination of chemo and the natural stress of going through the whole business. Shaving or cutting very short will help. Your GP may also be able to prescribe some lotion to assist. I had a bit of hair loss (more accelerated shedding) a long time post chemo, and a lotion called Novasone helped stabilise things and get rid of an itchy feeling. We never did find out the cause (not stress, not deficiencies, only thing detectable was mild dandruff!) but everything settled, and hair can alter its normal shedding cycles from time to time.
  • Hello @"cranky granny"

It is stressful for sure but in my experience most people begin to loose their hair about 2 weeks after the first chemo. It does depend on your exact type and schedule of chemo but my hair started to go on Day 14 after my first FEC chemo. My head felt terribly sore around this time also. My hair before it fell out felt really dry and "dead".

I had really thick hair and found it helped to shave my head at this point to stop the remaining hair from pulling and hurting my sensitive scalp when trying to sleep. Also saved on the mess. My scalp settled down once most of the hair had fallen out. I used Moo Goo scalp cream to moisturise it and stop the itch once all the hair had gone. Hope that you are feeling ok otherwise. Take care and just come on here anytime you need to. I learnt so much and saved an awful lot of worry by asking and reading things on here. Deanne xxx
