Side affects
Hi Ladies,
Last Monday week I had my 2nd chemo but the first with herceptin. This round had totally different side affects for me. The first couple of days weren't too bad and I thought I was going to do this round a bit easier, but from day 3 through 7 I suffered terrible diarrhea and nausea and could hardly eat, (I did take anti-nausea ) and struggled to stay awake. Now day 8 and feeling better. I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had anything similar happen. I thought I was prepared better for round 2.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
Cheers Jen ?? ?? x

Hi Karen,
I was exactly the same, gotta love those lemonade icypoles, Kev bought the last 4 boxes from the supermarket for me. Today seems much better and I did have a small meal last night. Thankyou for your help, I wiil definitely speak to my oncologist before next round. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Hi Jen,
sorry you are struggling. Be careful that you don't get dehydrated. After my first TCH, 3 days after I spent 4 days on the toilet with a bucket in my lap. I have never been so ill and ended up being admitted to the hospital for 5 days. They gave me ondansetron wafers and told me to take gastro stop. This helped heaps but I found that each cycle, I would have at least a week where I couldn't stomach anything but lemonade icy poles. I was told that if I had diarrhoea more than 4 times in a 24 hour period to contact the hospital. Don't be afraid to give the day oncology ward a call to talk to them about it. Hope it improves for you. Take care. Karen xox

Hi Jenny. I didn't have herceptin, but my 1st 3 cycles were FEC, and from about day 3-7 or 8 I had dreadful abdominal cramping. Not a lot of diarrhoea, but the relief from the cramps when I did, Oh......
I used Eno's, from about then, that helped a bit with the nausea. My GP also put me on a drug called Pereactin, which is actually an allergy medication, but also works for abdominal cramps. It helped a little, but I was never totally convinced.
Hope your next cycle is better,
Take care, Lyn
