Scalp Infection

Well trust me to get something the doctors here havent seen before!  I have a scalp infection that we are trying to clear up in a hurrry before the 3rd Chemo hit on the 24th.  Wow, it looks like severe acne, it hurts, burns and you cant lye on it.  So at the moment I am treating a fungal toenail and my scalp.  There is no finish to annoying stuff to do each day hey!  Besides that Im in the Happy Week !

  • You poor darling-you are so brave to go bald public. This heat has probably made your scalp worse.Once you start treating your scalp with whatever you've been told to use,it will clear up quickly. Then stay with cotton head gear for awhile.I think the wigs and synthetic fabrics make your head sweat in the heat.I could only wear my wig for short periods. Sometimes there are  nasty little surprises along the way on this bc ride.Hope your scalp clears up soon-bad enough being bald let alone scabby bald!

  • Not sure what you are doing for your fungal toenail - can I recommend salt water. If you can get to a beach is the best and paddle. Let it dry in the hot sun and sand. I had a dreadful fungus years ago and this treatment along with Condy's crystals, acupuncture and a chinese herbal tonic I got rid of it and it has NEVER returned. A dermatologist had told me I would have foot fungus for life - hah !

I hope your scalp has cleared up. Poor darling.

  • I seems that it iscalming down, so I hope like hell it gets lost before Chemo time!  I havent been able to put anything on my head because of it, so have had to brave the public with a bald, patchy head, accompanied with raised, pussy sores on either side.   Remember how I went on and on about having a wig in time and not wanting to face the world bald.  I had to any-way!  So I am ok with it, gives the public something to gawk at!  I have had to Man Up!  No point in being a woos, no-one is throwing rocks in the town square!  (smiling).xx Bel

  • Sorry to hear that Bel.I had a similar problem with my scalp but it was more of an irritation.I couldn't stop scratching and it was sore and scabby. The chemist gave me an oral antihistamine and I washed my head in cetaphil and only wore soft cotton bandanas for awhile. This bald gig ain't easy is it!
