SBS tonight 8.30pm .. Cannabis - miracle medicine or drug? Knowledge is power

I do not know how objective this documentary will be tonight - but if they have a balanced view on the use of Cannabis Oil as an effective treatment for MANY illnesses - it will be worth while watching.

Remember - it is only governments that have labelled it a drug!  It is, essentially, a herb.

I'll be watching it, with interest!  

As of January 31st, Canberra residents will be legally allowed to grown 2 cannabis plants each (a maximum of 4 plants per household) and I am sure there will be many cancer patients there - now growing their own, to make into Medicinal Cannabis Oil.  There is a small machine called an Ardent - that will do the transformation from plant to oil ....... if I was in Canberra, I know I would be doing it!

Surely it is just a matter of time before all Australians will be able to do this, without fear of being arrested.

    I did find the trial interesting where the researcher said that the patients best result was 1 part thc to 2 parts cbd. I don't think that was across the board with all the patients so it must be tailored to each individual. I don't know if legal recreation will really take off though. They tend to just want something cheap and easily obtained which is certainly not the case if you have to go to drs etc.

    arpie I was also very disappointed - the approach, questions, responses etc had an 'I'm being a bit naughty' tone to it. As though we were all on the beach in the 70's being a bit naughty. Not the carefully documented and considered presentation I was hoping for.

    VERY Disappointed that it spent so much time on 'smoked' cannabis - whereby the THC 'high factor' is activated

    Medicinal Cannabis oil is cold pressed and doesn't have the 'activated' THC that gives the 'high' (which needs to be heated to activate it.)

    This was not an informative doco on cannabis as a medicine.  :(

    Many drugs are miracle medicines - at least in some applications. And many medicines can become destructive if mis- or over-used. Medicinal cannabis oil is obviously useful and beneficial for some conditions, particularly where other medications have not worked. A drug is simply a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. ‘Drug’ now has harmful or illegal connotations. Alcohol is possibly the best example of a drug we cheerfully tolerate, solely because of the physiological effect!! Hard to see how it’s OK (it’s pleasant for some, immensely harmful to others) while cannabis oil is not (for the same reasons).
